1 CAREER POINT UNIVERSITY e-newsletter (A monthly newsletter of Career Point University, Hamirpur) 4 th Annual Sports meet of Career Point University held on 10 th October, 2017 The meet was inaugurated by Sh. Anurag Thakur, MP in the presence of Prof. P.L.Gautam, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Anil Dhiman, MLA, Senior officer of HP Government and other dignitaries. In his speech, Sh. Anurag Thakur explained the role of games in students life and motivated them to ensure their active participations in the sports. He has also announced to open a shooting range and gymnasium in the campus. Dr. Anil Dhiman has also appreciated the students on this meet and described the role of games in character building of students. The two days meet started with inaugural cricket match between the team of MCA and Hostel. After this, matches of Volleyball, Basketball and Table- Tennis were organized in which students of various departments participated actively. Towards the end of the first day, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) P.L,Gautam expressed his gratitude to the MP, MLA and other dignitaries, press and media for sparing their time and showering blessing on the youth. 2 One-day workshop by Incubation and Entrepreneur Cell of Career Point University in collaboration with E-Cell of IIT Bombay The Incubation and Entrepreneur Cell of Career Point University organized one-day workshop in collaboration with E-Cell IIT Bombay in which students from different institutes participated. The motive behind organizing this workshop was to guide and motivate students for Eureka Fest-2017 which will be held at IIT Bombay. Eureka Fest is an internationally recognized fest which is being organized by E-Cell IIT Bombay for the past 17 years for catering the spirit of Entrepreneurship among students. In this workshop, representative from IIT Bombay helped students to frame a workable business model keeping the demands of society in mind. This activity was very helpful for students as they came up with many brilliant workable ideas. Students will represent their business ideas in Eureka Fest-2017 at IIT Bombay. The Vice Chancellor and the other officials of the university appreciated the efforts of Incubation and Entrepreneur Cell, Career Point University for organizing this workshop which will be helpful for students by providing them a new domain for their respective future. 3 Celebration of Diwali Utsav organized by CSE department of CPUH The programme was inaugurated by Dr. P.L Gautam, Vice-Chancellor CPU,Hamirpur. During the event various cultural programmes were presented by the students of CSE department of CPU, Hamirpur. A rangoli completion was also organized in which student from different departments has actively participated. The students of M.Sc. Chemistry got first prize where as MCA & BCA group got 2 nd prize respectively. Page 3
4 A workshop on Java Technology was organized in CSE dept. of CPUH It was organized by a company named SuchTech Solution. All the students of CSE dept. of CPUH participated in the workshop. SuchTech Solution also conducted aptitude test for MCA/B.Tech students of final year and the students who qualified the aptitude test will be given fee concession for their 6 months industrial training in SuchTech Solutions. Clean India mission celebrated in CPU on the occasion of NSS day On the completion of three years of clean India mission, a special rally was organized by CPU, Hamirpur in which the student made awareness to local people through posters and slogans regarding cleanliness. The opening ceremony of the rally was done by the Dean of academic affairs, Dr. M. R. Sharma, in which N.S.S coordinator Mrs. Jyoti, Red ribbon club coordinator Dr. Shashi poonam, Vinod Sharma and other staff members were present. During his address to the students, Dean Dr. M.R. Sharma shared his views on the progression of India, in his speech he aware the students on health and utilize their energy for the development of their Country. Page 4
5 Placement of B.Tech student of CPU, Hamirpur in MNC Vivek Sharma, a B.Tech student of CPU, Hamirpur has brought laurels to the university by achieving a place which in today's world every engineering student dream. He recently got placement in ST Microelectronics, a multinational company situated in greater Noida with a monthly package of 55,000 where he will work as system engineer.
