1 HOW TO APPLY TO COLLEGE FOR SENIORS PRESENTATION BY QRHS SCHOOL GUIDANCE & COUNSELING DEPARTMENT While we wait for everyone to come in please log in to your Naviance account -Go to the About Me tab -Take the Post-Grad Survey for Seniors (top left of screen)

3 #1 - TRANSCRIPT MAKE SURE IT IS ACCURATE AND THEN INITIAL AND HAND BACK IN IF THERE IS AN ISSUE OR QUESTION WRITE YOUR QUESTION ON YOUR TRANSCRIPT #2 - Log in to Naviance and then Complete the Post-Grad Plan Survey Go to About Me Top Left Side Your Login to Naviance is your Year of Grad, First Initial, and Last Name (all Lowercase) For example: Paul Smith is a Senior so his username is 18psmith the password is your ID# unless you have changed it- use the most updated one

4 HOW TO APPLY TO COLLEGE Provided by the Student/Family Application Common App, Universal App, Directly to College using their own online application or via paper/snail mail Fee or Fee Waiver Request Essay Activity Sheet/Personal Resume Test Scores Sent Directly from SAT/ACT to Your Colleges 504/Special Education Records Portfolio/ Other Materials Provided by QRHS Transcript No Progress Reports This Year Teachers will upload and submit Letters of Recommendations Fee Waiver Verification School Forms Please note that QRHS does NOT submit SAT or ACT Scores to colleges (they must be sent directly from the test company to the college)

6 Navigate to My Colleges You will sign and complete your FERPA but you will NOT request any recommendations through Common App. Recommendations can only be done through Naviance otherwise you jeopardize your colleges not getting your materials Pro-tip: Each college has a page that presents deadlines, requirements, and college-specific questions. NOTE: You MUST Add a College to your List on Common App and sign off on FERPA before you can MATCH your Common App Account with your Naviance account The Common Application 6

7 MATERIALS SENT FROM QRHS TWO PRONG PROCESS FOR EACH Letters of Recommendation Step One: Ask the Teacher/Counselor and Give them a PINK Request form Attach your Activity Sheet- Sample on Guidance Website Step Two: Request the Letter of Recommendation on Naviance ONE PINK FORM FOR EACH RECOMMENDER Transcripts Step One: Fill out the PURPLE Transcript Request Form and bring it in to Guidance Step Two: Add the college to the Colleges I m Applying To on Naviance and request your transcripts ONE PURPLE FORM FOR EACH COLLEGE

8 IMPORTANT DATES & THINGS TO REMEMBER COLLEGE FAIR WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2017 AT 8:00AM MEFA FINANCIAL AID NIGHT THURSDAY, OCTOBER 19, Applying earlier is almost always better -Take the SAT with Writing as some colleges may require the writing -Potential College Athletes must send their transcript to NCAA -Subject SATs may be required by more competitive schools -Federal Financial Aid Application (FAFSA) is available on 10/1 -CSS Profile is also required for more competitive schools -Activity Sheet will also be needed for Scholarships
