2 Three Day Winter Course on Competition Law and Practice in India 21 st to 23 rd December 2013 About CIRC Established in September 2005 with the Mission: To be a Centre of Excellence on Regulatory and Competition Issues, CUTS Institute for Regulation & Competition (CIRC) is an esteemed institution, which primarily focuses on infrastructure and economic regulation, and competition policy and law with an objective of reaching out to the target audience in India and other developing countries in Asia and Africa. Its crucial role in research and capacity building in the area of competition policy and law has created an intellectual knowledge base on regulatory reforms. This rich experience of working on competition policy and law has resulted in many national and international publications which has enriched a more informed discourse on public policies and greatly benefited different stakeholders in the society. Since its inception, CIRC has been undertaking several training seminars and public lectures on competition policy and law in India and abroad. It also organized international symposia on the political economy of competition and regulation in the developing world and India. CIRC Activities: CIRC offers practical focus on educational and training programmes on infrastructure and economic regulation, competition policy and law. The Institute aims to facilitate research to enhance understanding and explore inter-disciplinary linkages among the identified subjects. The rich experience of working on competition policy and law has resulted in many national and international publications. Increasing demand of long and short-term courses offered by CIRC is appreciated by many national and international organisations. The Institute has also made cerebral contribution in the work of the High Level Committee on National Competition Policy. Winter Course: CIRC is pleased to announce Winter Course on Competition Law and Practice in India, which will be held from 21 st to 23 rd December 2013 at Indian Social Institute (ISI), New Delhi. The methodology of the winter course will comprise class room lectures, case studies, MCQs and discussions.

4 This winter course is specially designed for the students of law, economics and management. It can also be attended by other young professionals, lawyers, research scholars and teachers. CIRC has a compact governing structure, which includes the governing council, a managing committee and an academic council. It has a rich tapestry of a visiting faculty along with that of the core faculty. These councils have several eminent persons comprising economists, judges and former civil servants. Winter Course Lectures would be taken by eminent resource person from National Law University, Competition Commission of India and law practitioner from premier law firms.
