(Applied Nautical Science) for January 2018 Batch. The selected candidates who qualify in IMU CET i.e. Common Entrance Test will be admitted for training at our Maritime Training (MTI) at Powai and Tuticorin. Both our institutes are affiliated to Indian Maritime University (IMU), Chennai, A Central University setup by Government of India. For further details and online registration with Indian Maritime University, candidates are required to visit All interested candidates must appear and qualify IMU CET i.e. Common Entrance Test which is mandatory in order to join MTI Powai and Tuticorin. Final selection will be purely on the merit list of IMU CET Results. Applications are invited from candidates possessing educational qualifications and age, as prescribed below:- EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION: a) Pass in 10+2 examination from a recognized Board with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (PCM) with not less than 60% marks and not less than 55% for SC/ST Candidates as per IMU Eligibility Criteria. (Students who have appeared for 10+2 examination and waiting for results are also eligible to apply & qualify for examination subject to their securing 60% marks in PCM prior commencement of course).

2 OR b) Pass in B.Sc (PCM)/B.sc (Electronics with Physics as individual subject in one of the years) with marks not less than 60%. from a recognized University. OR c) B.E. / B. Tech. degree from I.I.T. or from a college recognized by AICTE with marks not less than 50 % AND Minimum 50% in English subject as a separate subject, at either 10 th or 12 th standard or in Degree, conducted by a recognized Board or University. AGE LIMIT: Not more than 25 Years (as on ). SC / ST candidates will be granted age relaxation of 5 years. MEDICAL STANDARD AND EYE SIGHT: Candidate must have good health and be fit for sea service as per existing MS Medical Examination Amendment rules 2016 / MLC 2006 applicable to seafarers. Standard as mentioned below: 1. Height: Minimum 157 cms. Or as per the DGS Guidelines. Reduction in height for the candidates from hilly and tribal areas will be in accordance with DGS / Govt. guidelines. 2. Weight: Proportionate to height and age. 3. Hearing: Normal. 4. Visual Standard: 6/6 (Normal Eye). Defective colour vision (Colour Blindness) NOT accepted. Note: Medical fitness check will be done through our empanelled DG approved Doctors and No waiver will be given for the above standard. Candidates not meeting above standard should not apply. For the TNOC course, there is no reservation for people with disabilities as mentioned in the Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995.

3 DURATION OF COURSE AND ONBOARD TRAINING: Course: 12 months Pre-Sea Training course followed by 18 months of Structured Shipboard Training as TNO (Deck Cadet) under Indian Maritime University (IMU) Directorate General of Shipping (D G Shipping) project, leading to Degree in B. Sc. (Nautical Science) to be conducted at Maritime Training Institute at Powai (Mumbai) & Tuticorin (Tamilnadu), owned by The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. Commencement: The selection of candidates is only for DNS course & shipboard training to facilitate completion of requisite sea-time for DNS course, and the shipping corporation of India does not have obligation or does not guarantee any further employment or extension of ship board training. However, the company may employ cadets after their completion of DNS course & obtaining the 2nd mate certificate of completion issued by Directorate General of Shipping, Govt. of India, at sole discretion, depending on the availability of vacancy in its fleet. SELECTION PROCEDURE, ON-LINE EXAMINATION AND VARIOUS SCHEDULES: Admission Procedure: 1. The Shipping Corporation of India invites application from the candidates in the prescribed format as attached herewith ANNEX I. The format may be filled up by the applicants and scan could be sent to us at gc.das@sci.co.in, dayanand.nevase@sci.co.in, and mti@sci.co.in for issuance of sponsorship certificate, which will be required for registering for IMU CET Exam. While filling up the application form, IMU CET Regn. No. can be left blank and should be notified to MTI as soon as IMU CET registration process is completed and applicants receive the IMU Regn. No. 2. Candidates who qualify IMU CET will only be eligible to get admission in our institute. Passing IMU CET December 2017 is mandatory to get admission. Common Entrance Test (CET) is conducted by IMU (Indian Maritime University, Chennai, Govt. of India) all over India. 3. Date, time and venue of IMU CET Examination are normally intimated through personal e- mail ID and by logging on to IMU website. Candidates shall take a printout of the admit card available online. 4. Eligible candidates, who do not receive call letters/ intimation for IMU examination, are required to take print of hall ticket from the university s website [ ] & report along with proper identification and passport size photograph at the IMU examination centres on the day of the examination. 5. Candidates, who had been issued Sponsorship letters from SCI, MTI and qualify the IMU- CET as well, will be considered. 6. Final merit list will be prepared as per the ranks obtained in IMU-CET. Candidates will be given option of indicating their preference between MTI Powai & MTI Tuticorin. Allocation of seats will be done on merit-cum-choice basis. 7. The Company will not provide any lodging, boarding, travelling or any other incidental expenses to the candidates incurred during admission process.

4 8. SCI-MTI reserves the complete right towards final selection / rejection of the candidates for DNS course at any stage during the training and/or selection procedure. 9. May please be informed that SCI engages cadets directly through its own schemes and has not authorized any person to engage cadets/trainees on its behalf. No service charge whatsoever is payable for application in SCI. 10. Candidates are required to keep on checking and very frequently for the latest updates, revisions, results, notifications etc.

5 HOW TO APPLY: 1) Application form for SCI-MTI will be accepted in the prescribe format ANNEX-I. The format may be filled up by the applicants and scan could be sent to us at and for issuance of sponsorship certificate, which will be required for registering for IMU CET Exam. While filling up the application form, IMU CET Regn. No. can be left blank and should be notified to MTI as soon as IMU CET registration process is completed and applicants receive the IMU Regn. No. 2) Candidates have to visit for the important instructions. 3) Candidates have to log on to for filling the online application for IMU CET. 4) Aspiring candidates MUST NOTE that Filling of IMU-CET On-line Form and Filling of SCI ANNEX-I Form separately are mandatory. Candidates not qualifying IMU- CET will not be admitted at our SCI Institutes. If any information provided by the candidate is found to be false or incorrect or not in conformity with the eligibility criteria, then his / her candidature is liable to be rejected at any stage of the selection process or after selection or joining. 4.
