3 APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS 2011 Application for Class of 2014 I. Please submit your Intent to Apply to the Neeley Fellows Program between April 1 st and April 15 th (April 19 th for the change-of-major-to-pre-business students.) II. Conduct face-to-face informational interviews between April 19 and May 2, 2011 with two current Neeley Fellows that will be assigned to you. addresses of students to contact will be ed no later than April 19 th (April 20 th for the change of major to pre-business students.) Dress is casual. You can find more information about your assigned individuals online, by accessing the Neeley Fellows Directory from the homepage. The purpose of these informational interviews is: 1) For the Neeley Fellows Applicants: a. to become more knowledgeable about the program b. to become comfortable with networking that is a critical part of the program 2) For the Current Neeley Fellows: a. to have an opportunity to connect with the future Neeley Fellows b. to have an opportunity to give back to the program by actively participating in the program s admissions process 3) For the Neeley Fellows Program: a. to receive feedback about the applicants from the current Fellows. This feedback is used as one of MANY assessments of the applicant. III. IV. Please submit your descriptive resume, in the format of the sample included in this document, to Dan Rogers Hall 232, Neeley Fellows Program Office, by 5 p.m., May 2, You may make your resume as long as necessary to include all the relevant details; however, you are expected to keep it in the format requested. Include a well-written cover letter explaining the following: a. Why you would like to participate in the Neeley Fellows Program b. What you would gain from this experience c. What you would bring into the program d. Why you want to pursue a degree in business. Your carefully crafted, thorough letter should clearly convey to the committee that you have spent time researching the program, talking to current Neeley Fellows, thinking about your future and writing. V. Have 2 letters of recommendation sent directly to the Neeley Fellows Program Director, Box , Fort Worth, TX or b.jones@tcu.edu a. The letters should elaborate in detail on your strengths, accomplishments, specific traits such as commitment to excellence, leadership, initiative, responsibility, attitude, integrity, passion for learning, interpersonal communication skills, teamwork. b. One letter of recommendation should be from a high school or college teacher and one from an employer, counselor or community service leader. Both letters of recommendation should be from people who know you well.

4 c. We must receive the two letters by May 2nd. Please consider asking more than two people to send letters in case you have reservations if both recommenders will send the letters on time. d. Both letters should be current, written in Please do not use your old letters of recommendation for college as they will not be read. e. Please do not have family members send a letter of recommendation. f. Your minister should be sending a letter only if you were involved in community service through your church. g. Letters from friends of the family should only be sent in case the friend of the family knows the applicant well and can speak either as a teacher, an employer or a community service leader. h. Letters from independent college counselors paid to counsel the applicant by the family of the applicant will not be accepted. VI.
