1 UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS AND FINANCIAL AID CHECKLIST 1. Visit Stevens. Schedule an appointment to meet with an admissions representative and tour the campus, or register online for a Visit Day at 2. Take the SAT I or ACT. Remember to include the Stevens Institute of Technology CEEB code number 2819, so your test scores can immediately be forwarded to us. We recommend that you take three SAT II English, mathematics, and science. These are required for accelerated pre-med and pre-dentistry applications. If you have already taken all exams, please ask your guidance/college counselor to send your scores to us. We do not require test scores from transfer students who have earned 30 or more college credits. 3. Submit your application for admission. Omitting information can delay determining an admission decision. a. Complete the first three pages and mail it along with your $55 application fee payable to Stevens Institute of Technology. If you are applying to an accelerated program, the application fee is $65. b. Ask your guidance/college counselor to complete the Secondary School Report and submit it to Stevens with an official copy of your high school transcript. c. Transfer students: Please also have official transcript(s) from all previously attended college(s) forwarded to us. d. International students: Please submit the International Student Supplemental Application. 4. Get teacher recommendations. Ask at least one, preferably two, of your teachers to complete the Teacher Evaluation Form and submit it to Stevens. 5. Tell us more about yourself. Write and submit a Personal Statement. 6. Meet with an admissions representative for an interview. Stevens requires an interview for all applicants. Those who live within a 250-mile radius of Hoboken are required to complete their interview on campus. Those who live more than 250 miles from the Stevens campus are strongly encouraged to visit campus for the interview. If that is not possible, please call to arrange a phone interview with an admissions representative. 7. File for financial aid. a. Early Decision I applicants must submit the College Scholarship Service (CSS) Profile along with their applications (available at to receive an estimated financial aid package with their admission decision. To receive your official package, you must still submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), available online at after January 1st, 2011, but preferably before February 15, b. All Early Decision II and Regular Decision applicants must submit the CSS Profile to be considered for Stevens scholarship or grant aid. You must also file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for Federal and State aid, after January 1st, but preferably before February 1st. Omitting information will delay processing and determining your eligibility, and potentially affect the amount of your award. Remember to keep copies of all paperwork you submit. 4 APPLYING EARLY DECISION TO YOUR FIRST-CHOICE UNIVERSITY Definition: There are several factors to consider when applying to any college or university under the Early Decision Plan. As an Early Decision candidate you will apply earlier than the traditional applicant, in this case at Stevens Institute of Technology, your first-choice school. However, the Early Decision Plan is binding, meaning if you apply as an Early Decision candidate, are offered admission, and submit a tuition deposit, you agree to withdraw any applications from other institutions, not initiate any new applications at other institutions, and attend Stevens in Fall Remember that it is a violation of the Plan to apply Early Decision at more than one college or university. We also recommend that you do not apply as an Early Decision candidate if you plan to weigh offers and financial aid packages from several other institutions later in the spring, or want to include more information, such as senior year course grades, on your application. If you apply as an Early Decision candidate to Stevens, please be assured that your information is evaluated by the same competitive criteria as those who apply as a traditional applicant. The decision is based on all information submitted to Stevens by the deadline, including official test scores, your high school transcript and your interview.
