We have had to say goodbye to Ben Calvert's Solo Show in the EAG Gallery and want to congratulate him on the amazing amount of work he sold at his show congratulations again Ben! I've had a look at the fall show and the EAG gallery is filled with outstanding work in a huge variety of subjects, mediums, and styles it's very exciting to see so many of you showing! It is exciting to see work from all over the Chicagoland area displayed in such a beautiful space! The opening is today, Friday, October 7 and we look forward to meeting and celebrating with many of you. Please welcome Renee LaVerne Rose, who will be judging our fall show we are excited to have her at our gallery. She is the director of the ACS Gallery at the Zhou B Art Center as well as the founder and publisher of the ACS Magazine. On the evening of October 14, the EAG gallery will be hosting ECPA's Spotlight Gala (Elmhurst Center for the Performing Arts). This event launches the initiative and brings awareness to a new venture to build a multi-stage venue for theater, music, dance, and comedy in the heart of downtown Elmhurst. All guild members are invited to attend; for details on signing up and for more information on this event go to In EAM news, on the 10th of October the Elmhurst Art Museum is providing a guided tour of the current event "Blow Up: Inflatable Contemporary Art", and on the 22nd of October EAM is offering a Family Workshop: "Inflate & Create" with artist Claire Ashley. For more on these offerings from the Museum, please visit: As of this year, all current Guild members are automatically Museum members and we are fortunate to have these opportunities available to us! Our next Membership meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 20, and we look forward to Nathan Keay speaking. He is the staff Photographer for the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, IL, and along with his photography, he is a multimedia artist based in Chicago. Hope to see many of you at this event, it is another great opportunity for EAG members to be enriched, challenged and instructed by fellow artists no matter what their working medium might be. Again, I am so honored and inspired to work with such a diverse and talented group of artists. Keep warming and nurturing your creativity even as the weather continues to blow in windier and colder! 2 2 Member News Bert Cohn was "Artist of the Month" at The Clare, the Chicago retirement community in which he lives. In connection therewith, he exhibited several of his photographs in the 19th floor library and was featured in the monthly newsletter. Many favorable comments were received on his altered photo "Windy City vs. Trump Tower," which shows the building twisting and leaning against strong winds. Joan Ladendorf has two pieces in Bloomingdale Park District s Mixed Media Exhibition Attention to Detail, running through November 5, and a piece in the Vicinity 2016 Show at the Norris Gallery in St. Charles, through October 30. October 20 th EAG Program Speaker: Nathan Keay is the staff Photographer for the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, IL. He is a photographer and multimedia artist based in Chicago whose clients have included Timeout Chicago, The University of Illinois Center for Biophysics and Computational Biology, General Motors, Holt, Rinehart and Winston, Illinois Institute of Environmental Studies, University of Chicago, The Bird Machine, Arts Club of Chicago, Northwestern University, End Communication, Grillo Group, A5 Inc., Doki Doki Designs and many more. 5 4 5 Submit Your Work for Pop Up Arts! St. Charles, Illinois November 7-27, 2016 The St Charles Arts Council is opening the 19th in their series of Pop Up Art Galleries. Visual and Video Artists are invited to submit their work for jurying. The gallery will be open from Saturday, November 5 through Sunday, November 27. It will be a featured program of the 2nd Annual Celebrating Veterans Through Art event taking place in St. Charles from November 5-12, The Artist Reception will be Saturday, November 5 from 7 to 9 p.m. More information about the event may be found on the SCAC web site. The theme of the gallery is "From Sea to Shining Sea". Artists should submit work that is of America and Americans - celebrating the country in all of it's breadth and depth. Entries for the gallery can be in any style or medium of visual art, or video, whose subject is people, places, or things anywhere in America. Pop Up Arts is a very successful Initiative of the St Charles Arts Council. 100% of the selling price of the work goes to the artist. The galleries are actively promoted in social and print media, and the artwork is insured. Entries for the gallery can be in any style or medium of visual art or video. Juried 1. SCAC Members - jury fee is waived 2. non-scac Members - $20 3. Veterans/active duty service people - jury fee is waived, with proof of service Fee is nonrefundable. Fees can be mailed to: St Charles Arts Council, 2 E. Main Street, St. Charles, IL 60174, or paid online through the web site's Donation page. The SCAC is a 501c3 Public Charity. (Artists interested in becoming an SCAC member - go to StCharlesArtsCouncil.org and click on the yellow "Donate" button to make your membership payment.) SUBMISSION: All submissions must be electronic. There is no form to fill out. Please the requested information (below) and images of your submitted work to ArtistLiaison@StCharlesArtsCouncil.org. Artists may submit up to 6 pieces for jurying. Jurors may select 1 or more pieces from each artist. All submissions must include the following information for each image: 1. Title of the piece, 2. Medium, 3. Dimensions, 4. Selling Price IMAGES FOR JURYING: If you wish to submit an entry, please send, via , jpg images of the artwork that you would like to enter in the gallery. In 1990, the Guild sold its property adjacent to Wilder Park to provide expansion for the new Elmhurst Art Museum. We continue to meet at the Museum on the third Thursday of every month except June, July and August.
