Six intelligent teams battled it out to be called the winner or rather to avoid the ignominy of coming last and "winning" a wooden spoon each. Quizmaster Dave ensured that no team could feel comfortable by a choice of questions ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous. Nonetheless the conquering team with the highest score featured the husband and wife partnerships of Messrs Fitton, Le Grice and Griffiths, and the losing teams took their plight with dignity and good

3 Don't forget the April Lecture will be at St John's Hall. This months lecture on 12th April promises to be particularly memorable as we are joined by the renowned writer, historian and TV presenter Sarah Dunant for 'The Borgias, the Most Infamous Family in History?' The publicity says : " Murder, poison, corruption and incest: all perfect ingredients for sensational popular culture, but in an age known for its brutality and church corruption were the Borgias really so bad? " To find out the answer come along at 7.30pm Thursday12th April but dont forget the venue is St John's Hall for this lecture only. Entrance is via the steps up to the main doors from 6.30pm but if you want to use the lift, use the glass doors at the ground level entrance to library, and the lift is straight ahead. There is free evening parking in the car park adjacent to the hall. The raffle prize for the April lecture is the book: In The Name Of The Family by Sarah Dunant Conjuring up the past in all its complexity, horror and pleasures, In The Name of the Family confirms Sarah Dunant's place as the leading novelist of the Renaissance and one of the most acclaimed historical fiction writers of our age. Dale Chihuly: the World s Foremost Glass Artist Charles Hajdamach American glass artist Dale Chihuly is the super-star of the glass world. His glass magic has transformed the studio glass movement and altered our visual perceptions of this extraordinary material forever Charles Hajdamach is a former Director of Broadfield House Glass Museum ( ) and one of the top authorities on glass in the country. Author of British Glass (1991), 20th Century British Glass (2009) and contributor to Sol del Citrón, 2014, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, Coral Gables, Florida numerous books and magazines, he lectures internationally to glass museums and collector s societies.

You can see who is on the committee by clicking Fiona MacDonald I have been living in Penzance since 1999, having moved here to manage a small voluntary sector organisation. I am a member of Three Spires Singers but apart from that am just a happy consumer of the arts in general, enjoying opera at the cinema these days and the many art exhibitions we are blessed with in West Cornwall. John McEvoy Now retired, my background is non artistic but varied from administering an arts centre, project managing IT projects, running my own business to redeveloping an old police station. I have loved the arts throughout my

life, initially via music - I ran a specialist hifi store for a number of years - but, increasingly enjoying, and seeking to understand, the visual arts.

The National Gallery has Monet and Architecture starting on 9th April. The V&A - has the Ocean Liners: Speed and Style exhibition running.
