Students will have an immersive experience that brings the study of the Six Nations to life. Welcome to the Museum Tour (Pre-K-3rd) Young students are introduced to visiting an art museum and invited to explore and discover the art in our galleries. Through interactive stations, students learn more about how art is created and how a museum works. American Memory Tour (4th-12th) Folk artists express the ordinary and extraordinary events that have shaped their lives and communities through painting, sculpture, and other media. Today, these artworks serve as documentation of American culture and the lives of their artists. This tour explores our Folk Art Gallery, special folk art exhibitions, and our American Painting Gallery to discover folk art and history! Logistics are one to two hours long and are.00 per student. Classes explore The Farmers Museum, Fenimore Art Museum, and the Native American Sites on self-guided tours at their own pace. Self-Guided If you would rather tour the Museum at your own pace, we welcome self-guided school groups while we are open to the public. Please call us in advance to book. Did You Know? A ll school programs are based on New York State Learning Standards in a range of subjects. S tudent visits may be eligible to be funded by BOCES Arts in Education or Exploratory Enrichment programs. T he New York State Historical Association will host its annual October Conference for Teachers on Friday, October 18th, 2013; this is a great professional development opportunity for teachers in the region. Seeing the Bark House was my favorite part of our Native American Tour at the Fenimore Art Museum. I learned that the Native Americans wove [porcupine] quills into clothing, shoes, and bags. I will remember the Seneca Log House most because I liked the artifacts inside the Log House. 4th Grade Student On-site programming is available almost year-round at both Museums!
