1 A Vinfen service for award-winning artists with disabilities Brookline, MA Gateway Arts, a community-based comprehensive professional art center, provides support, retail and exhibit outlets, and real careers in the arts for more than 110 individuals with disabilities in the Greater Boston area.
2 Gateway Crafts Store Brookline, Massachusetts A consignment shop where original and offset work by studio artists is shown and sold. Artists receive 60% of the selling price of original work, and copyright fees for multiples such as cards and t-shirts.
3 Gateway Crafts Store Brookline, Massachusetts The interior of the professionally designed street-level store in historic Brookline Village, selling woven goods, pottery, folk art, hand-painted clothing, original books, notecards, wrapping paper and more.
4 Gateway Gallery Brookline, Massachusetts The Gallery, located on the 2 nd floor of an old glass factory with adjacent studio areas for artists, houses over 6 openings per year and has rotating shows featuring the studio s artists.
5 Gateway Gallery Brookline, Massachusetts In addition to the gallery exhibits, a viewing room with portfolios and flat files of artists work is available for showing work to collectors.
6 Gateway Arts Studio A Brookline, Massachusetts This recently developed studio provides supports and representation for over 40 artists funded by the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission and by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health for arts-based vocational rehabilitation services.
7 Artist at work in the Main Studio Gateway Arts Carmen came to Gateway with funding from the Massachusetts Department of Mental Retardation on turning 22 and has developed a wide range of artwork, success in sales, friends, and a strong work ethic.
8 Artist at work in the Main Studio Gateway Arts Mary joined Gateway on her retirement from work at Hanscomb Air Force Base. She formerly lived in Massachusetts State Schools. Art, once her hobby, is now her profession.
9 Gateway Arts Budget by Funding Source FY 1997 Total $664,265 The art center grew from an operating budget of $60,000 in 1978 with a single funding source (DMR) to a diversified budget of $664,265 in 1997.
10 Gateway Arts Budget by Funding Source FY 2007 Total $1,439,139 The continually diversified funding base has expanded to include more significant development and has increased in terms of service and art sales.
11 Barneys New York Chestnut Hill Mall Holiday windows with Gateway artwork Art exhibits result in sales and community inclusion. This holiday exhibit and sale at Barneys New York at the upscale Chestnut Hill Mall in Newton, MA has produced delighted customer responses and attracted new collectors.

14 Outsider Art Fair New York, NY One of the most significant outlets for self-taught art is the annual Outsider Art Fair in January at the Puck Building in New York City. This is the Berenberg Gallery booth at this prestigious fair.
