1 Country: India (Dehradun) Names: Chingakham L Devi (Ranjana) Position: Head of Library Organization: Kasiga School, India ranjana@kasigaschool.com, chinglei24@gmail.com You can browse: kasigaschoollibrary.blogspot.in, The aim of the ISLM is to make students aware of importance of a school library as the information and cultural hub; as a place where students are prepared for lifelong learning, for promoting multicultural diversity, for developing art and literal creativity amongst students promoting all formats of multiple intelligences. International School Library Month in our school is always fun and creative. This year it began by making bookmarks and Skype conversation by IV to VIII grade students. We were very happy to swap our book-marks with State School 1501, Moscow, Russia and also with an Osnovna škola Gorjani, Bolokan 20, Croatia. Our Students made book-marks on Cultural themes of India, animals and birds and famous quotes on reading and saving our Environment. Different mediums of art were used to create and innovate. The students used oil and water colors and sketch pen. The students, especially those who enjoy reading, crafted some interesting and thought provoking designs and were excited at that thought of their designs being bookmark! The bookmark project made the Library a creative place where students liked spending time browsing for ideas for making beautiful bookmarks. Students were very delighted and thrilled to complete this project. We hope this project will strengthen and enrich our cultures with exchange and intermingling of Art and Culture of our countries in the years to come as we all are aware that India has a rich and colorful history, heritage and various other facets. We whole heartedly thank ISLM team for providing an opportunity to work with wonderful children of Russia and Croatia.

2 The students presented their inner world through imaginative artworks. The bookmarks and Skype conversation helped in exchanging ideas and creative thoughts with our partner schools in Russia and Croatia. As a part of the International School Library Month, Skype conferences were conducted between Kasiga School and State School 1501, Moscow, Russia, Osnovna škola Gorjani, Bolokan 20, Croatia and Also with Kingston Grammar School, London Road, Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, KT2 6PY. All the students in the conference were very eager and enthusiastic to know about each other s language, culture, sports, etc. Through the interaction these students were overjoyed to learn that Spanish is a language which is common to the curriculum of all schools. So they decided to converse and exchange ideas in Spanish. During the exchange that took place, the students of Kasiga School proudly proclaimed their school to be a Centre of world cultural unity with students and teachers of different countries, ethnicity, religion and race living together and learning about each other from each other. The students spoke about the school and their Library. They discussed about the different types books and the authors which they enjoyed reading in the library. The children referred the library as a place joyous learning which in some cases also transported them into an imaginary world of Harry Potter, the books of Roald Dahl, Treasure Island and Jim and mysterious world of secret seven by Enid Blyton. The Russian and Croatian students extended an Invitation to the students of Kasiga to visit their school. The conference ended with an invitation from Kasigans inviting their new friends to visit India to strengthen the bonds of friendship and a promise to provide them with a glimpse of Indian Culture.
