7 call for: intensive networking and cooperation between all universities in the Danube Region intensifying cooperation between the universities and the regional and express the highest interest in: contributing to the EU Strategy for the Danube Region, being directly involved in formulating parts of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region, in particular those parts concerning research and education, as well as technology transfer implementing the EU Strategy by intensifying research, developing and enriching study programs, stimulating mobility, organizing continuing education and life-long learning, as well as reinforcing the potential for socio-economical development.

8 COMMUNICATION FROM THE COMMISSION TO THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT, THE COUNCIL, THE EUROPEAN ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL COMMITTEE AND THE COMMITTEE OF THE REGIONS concerning the European Union Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region ACTION PLAN.. The tasks of the European Commission include: Playing a leading role in strategic coordination of the key delivery stages of the EUSBSR; Taking the EUSBSR into account in relevant policy initiatives and programmes planning; Promoting and facilitating the involvement of stakeholders from all levels of the entire macro-region and supporting them implement the EUSBSR; Facilitating implementation of the EUSBSR in cooperation with the Member States (i.e. national coordinators, line ministries, bodies in charge of implementing programmes/financial instruments, policy area coordinators, horizontal action coordinators) by:. closely aligning EU, national and regional policies and strategies with the EUSBSR;

13 JOINT RESEARCH CENTRE The European Commission's in-house science service The JRC launched in 2011 the "Scientific Support to the Danube Strategy" initiative; Launched by the JRC in 2011 In close collaboration with key scientific partners of the Danube countries: Science Academies (LoI with 11 partner Academies) Universities (LoI with Danube Rectors' Conference representing almost 70 universities of the region) 2012 Brussels (BE) High level conference on 'Scientific Support to the Danube Strategy, organised by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) 2013 Bratislava Scientific support to the Danube strategy building on synergies The overall objective is to gather essential scientific expertise and data to help decision-makers in the region to identify measures and actions needed to implement the EU Strategy of the Danube region.

16 EUSDR Flagship projects Priority Area 9 "Investing in people and skills" Actions: Financing through the ESF faces the difficulty that not all states consider to make use of the transnational cooperation possibility provided by the ESF Regulation. Financing through ERDF on the other hand has to face the problem that PAC 9 topics education, labour market and social affairs have to compete with many different other topics. embedding &selection criteria Attempt of BW to set up a first meeting of all Danube ESF MAs as a side event Network and further exchange on possible cooperation Capacity-Building for Teachers of VET in the Danube Region In Romania, the ESF-Project ( Boost companies participation in IVET PROIPT ) is currently under preparation, Romanian lead partner is the national TVTC Centre.

20 EUSDR PA 8 projects Danube:Future - A sustainable future for the Danube River Basin as a challenge for the interdisciplinary humanities Danube:Future takes into account the long-term legacies of this troubled history with a strong focus on humanities and social sciences through new interdisciplinary approaches From , the University of Trieste, in cooperation with Alpen- Adria-Universität Klagenfurt and the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences of Vienna (BOKU), offers a unique opportunity for young career researchers to familiarize themselves with issues pertinent to the sustainable development of the Danube River Basin. DIANET International Schools are held in the beautiful town of Gorizia in Italy.
