2 New Messaging Software and LVA Mobile App We are excited to share important improvements to our communication software. Click the following link for instructions! Important Updates to LVA Communication Parking Lot, Parent Pick up & Drop Off - Driving Etiquette Please remember to slow down while driving on campus. LVA has students at play in various locations around the campus every day. In the mornings and afternoons, there are several hundred cars on campus snaking their way through our three different parent drop-off and pick-up lines. Traffic has to merge in several spots. We ask that you please be patient and courteous. Inclement Weather Reminders We follow Bethlehem Area School District in the event of a delay or closing. In case of a delay or school closing, we will send a notification and it will also be posted on Channel 69, LVA Twitter, and LVA Facebook pages. In case of an early dismissal, we will NOT send a notification, but ask that you watch WFMZ channel 69 for your home school district dismissal times as some districts may dismiss earlier than others. Please do not contact the LVA Transportation Coordinator for inclement weather information. For this reason, we would like to remind you to keep your home school district s transportation phone number in your phone and also have a plan with your child as to what they will do in case of an early dismissal. Winter Challenge Annual Campaign LVA s annual Winter Challenge is off to a great start and we ask that you please support the DP Exam Scholarship Fund, the LVA Fund, or the STEAM Campaign. We are hoping to reach our goal of $10,000 and will need your help! If you wish to participate, please send in a check made payable to Lehigh Valley Academy or LVA in an envelope marked Lehigh Valley Academy RSDC or make a donation online using the Payschools link on our website. Thank you! National School Choice Week (NSCW) January 21-27, 2018: Lehigh Valley Academy will be celebrating National School Choice Week (NSCW) from Sunday, January 21, 2018 to Saturday, January 27, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for children and provides schools, individuals, and organizations with the opportunity to celebrate the 2
3 benefits of all types of choice in education, such as public charter schools, traditional public schools, magnet schools, online academies, private schools, and homeschooling. We believe that all parents and guardians, as a child's first teacher, have a major influence on a child's success and we thank you for making Lehigh Valley Academy your school of choice. More information to come..stay tuned! Parent Advisory Council (PAC) Lehigh Valley Academy will be hosting regular PAC meetings with the LVA Principals. These events will give LVA families the opportunity to meet with the principals to discuss a variety of topics and information. Food service experience is appreciated but not required. Please reach out to Karen Deichman, HR Director at K.Deichman@lvacademy.org or x4109. LVA Parent University The intention of the LVA Parent University is to provide families with access, opportunities, and tools that are helpful to support their children in areas such as literacy in the home, bullying, internet safety, mathematics, and much more. The LVA Parent 3
4 University programming is underway. If you have any suggestions for topics, please contact Coming Soon.Social Media & Internet Safety! Bus Transportation Please remember to keep the number for your child s home school district transportation department in your cell phone. In case of an emergency, they will have radio contact with the bus drivers. The list of transportation department contact information is included in your LVA calendar. LVA Parent Portal The LVA PlusPortal allows you to access your child s records, including contact information, attendance, homework, grades and discipline as well as other school and teacher communication. So come join us and support the LVA pride! There will be snacks and beverages in the show. The whole event is being organized and conducted by LVA seniors. This will be a fun, exciting, adventurous event. There will be fun music and show. Plus, the fashion brands that you see in the runaway will be selling the products you liked!
