Willing to address common logistical and material needs, and to provide work and stability for disadvantaged people, the original NGOs members of the network set up social integration activities since Humanis employ more than 60 people involved in local social programs within adapted working contract. THE EUROPEAN DEVELOPMENT DAYS The third edition of the European Development Days will take place in Strasbourg on November 15-17, By organising this event, the European Union shows its determination to enhance public awareness about development cooperation and to strengthen the effectiveness of EU development assistance policies. The political forum is an opportunity to discuss, at the highest level, essential aspects of development policies, in particular the implementation of the Paris Declaration and the Millennium Development Goals. The first two events attracted more than three thousand representatives of the EU Member States and civil society and their African, Asian or Latin American partners. The international organisations, local authorities, private sector, academics, foundations and media were also involved. The European Development Days gather both institutional and operational actors of the UE development cooperation and its partners. The purpose of such a meeting is to improve the definition of their objectives, their operational methodology and their results.
3 The European Commission has been encouraging the contributors like Humanis to enhance the impact of the EDD by organising offsides events. In this perspective, Humanis proposes, for the professionals networks, workshops about the development cooperation issues. As an international solidarity associations network, Humanis organises the European Meeting of development cooperation platforms, Saturday 15 th November 2008, followed by a conference-debate entitled European NGO Platforms : Essentials Actors for Development Cooperation, Sunday 16 th November These events are organised in partnership with TRIALOG a program for development NGOs in the enlarged European Union. For more informations : EUROPEAN MEETING OF DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION PLATFORMS The European civil society is involved in international development projects mainly through Non State Actors and local authorities.
