4 Supporting Higher Education in Europe EURASHE is the European association of European Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) that offer professionally oriented programmes and are engaged in applied and professionrelated research within the Bologna cycles Founded in 1990 in Patras, Greece EURASHE s mission is to promote the interests of professional higher education in the EHEA and to contribute to the progressive development of the Area of Higher Education and Research (EHERA) 4 EURASHE introduction

19 Project Goals Harmonise approaches to professional higher education in Europe Strengthen PHE as Sector Enhance quality / importance of PHE Improve specific player role education/labour market/research innovation Raise impact policy actions 19
20 Project Aims improve the set of data on PHE in Europe in order to obtain an in-depth and comparable insight into the state of art of the sector; share expertise among stakeholders in education, enterprise and civil society on PHE understanding, definition, defining characteristics and quality criteria; set up a framework for better monitoring and evidence-based decision making for PHE as a sector by developing a roadmap for the improvement of quality in PHE institutions and PHE indicators for policy makers; provide support to peer-learning among PHE institutions through guidelines and implementation tools on best practice in PHE; gain broad consensus for the project s innovations among the wider education community by embarking upon extensive stakeholder s consultation to validate the project s outcomes; widely disseminate the project s results, including specific publications, academic articles and a purpose-organised conference. 20
