2 ALPHA BETA CHRISTIAN COLLEGE - ADMISSION GUIDE Thank you for your interest in Alpha Beta Christian College. We offer the Cambridge International Examination (CIE) curriculum from Form One (Year 7) to Upper Six (Year 13). Please read through this guide thoroughly. Please note that admission decisions are based on your application form, results of entrance examinations and interview. We encourage you to submit your application as early as possible. We look forward to welcoming you to the Alpha Beta family. APPLICATION FORMS Application forms cost GH (non-refundable and covers cost of entrance exam) Please be sure to include the following when submitting your application: A completed application form signed and dated Birth Certificate / Vaccination card / Copy of Passport Last two school reports 2 Passport Pictures (Not more than 6 months old) In cases where the above documents are not available, applicant should contact the college admission office for advice on the best way to proceed. All applicants are encouraged to visit A.B.C.C Admission Office for more information and a guided tour of the school. 4 Entry Stage II IGCSE Form 4-5 (Grade 10 and 11) All Students entering at this stage must have six years of Primary Education and three years of Junior Secondary Education or higher. Test Subjects: Mathematics, English and Science Note: Only Students electing to take Science at IGCSE Level will be required to take a Science test. Mathematics Revision Topics Algebra: Equations and Inequalities, Factorization, Quadratic equations, Transformation of formulae Indices, Simultaneous equations, Substitution into formulae. Data Handling: Statistics, Probabilities, Shapes, Space and Measures, Area of shapes, Angle properties, Pythagoras theorem and Trigonometry Numbers and Finance: Discounting, Profit and Loss, Simple Interest, Standard Index form, Estimations, Factors, Primes and Multiples, Percentages and Decimals. English Revision Topics Summary, Poetry Appreciation, Essay Writing, Passage Reading and Comprehension. Science Revision Topics Biology: Major Organ System, Cells, Respiration, Classification and Variation, Flowering plants. Physics: Forces, Energy and Fuels, Electricity and Magnetism, Speed and Velocity, Sound and Light Chemistry: Patterns of relativity, Acids and Alkalis, Atoms, Elements and Compounds, Chemical reactions. Entry Stage III AS/A-Level (Lower and Upper 6) All Students entering at this stage must have a minimum of five IGCSE passes including Mathematics and English. Science students must achieve a minimum of grade B and non-science students a minimum of grade C to qualify for A-level. Applicants may be required to take an Entrance Exam depending on their grades. Entrance Examination Dates Entrance Examination takes place at the A.B.C.C campus, Dansoman, Sahara (Opp. Ghana Commercial Bank).
