2 Club Background The West Pines United Futbol Club (WPU) was formed in 1999 and is a non-profit 501(c)(3) youth sports organization. One of the Largest Competitive Travel Programs in South Florida! Our Mission: West Pines United Futbol Club (FC) is a year-round, elite youth, travel soccer program whose mission is to develop, train, organize and compete our players against the best local, regional and national level competition. In doing so, the club aims to develop individual and team skills while stressing sportsmanship, teamwork and fair play in a safe environment. Our Vision: The clubs focus is executing a club program that tracks player development, coaching staff and teams in order to develop players whose skills improve season-to-season while developing a passion for the game. WPUFC has been fortunate to have numerous players go on to play at the collegiate level. Most have played at the NCAA Division II level, with some at the NCAA Division I level. West Pines prepares our members both mentally and athletically. Our athletic alumni are a source of pride for our entire soccer community. The West Pines United Futbol Club (WPU) is based in Pembroke Pines, Florida and is one of the largest competitive travel programs in South Florida. With a professional coaching staff and their strong history of player development, West Pines United is a nationally recognized program that has become a club for champions. Our players annually use their development skills to achieve numerous accomplishments including USA national team selections, Olympic Development Program (ODP) selections, College selections, and thus achieve many team championships from State Cup, SE Regional Champions, to Atlanta Cup, Florida Cup, Disney Showcase, and many more. This is a result of our coaches focusing on player development including technical skills, tactical skills, conditioning, nutrition, and, not team accomplishments. The West Pines United Futbol Club (WPU), offers a year-round competitive soccer environment for players 8-19 years of age who are interested in taking their game to a higher level. The club s main focus is on individual player development within the framework of team building. Player placement is largely determined at our annual try-outs with the competitive level of each team determined during pre-season training. Comprised of Advanced, Competitive and Academy teams, WPU provides top-level training and coaching in all phases of the game. Teams compete in some of the Nation s Premier leagues according to their respective performance levels such as, the Super Y-League, the Southeast Region III Premier League, the Florida State League & the local area s premier program. Teams also vie for top honors in the State s Championship Series the Florida State Cup, Region Cup & President s Cup. 2

3 West Pines teams are frequent competitors in major tournaments across the country such as the Disney Showcase, Orange Classic, Jefferson Cup, Atlanta Cup, Raleigh Cup & the Score at the Shore. Advanced teams also compete in U.S. Club Soccer s State, Regional and National championship series. Florida s lesser tiered tournaments provide ample opportunities for all teams to compete each season. All players, 12 years old and above, are encouraged to attend the Olympic Development Programs (ODP), of both US Youth Soccer and Super Y-League. Numerous WPU players have been selected to State, Regional & U.S. National team pools through these programs. Many WPU players have realized their dreams of furthering their soccer careers at the college level and a select few at the professional level. Thank you for your consideration. 3

7 West Pines Tournaments 21ST ANNUAL WEST PINES KICKOFF CLASSIC: West Pines United FC hosts an Annual West Pines Kickoff Classic. The girls tournament will be played October 7-8, 2017 and the boys tournament October 14-15, The Annual West Pines Kickoff Classic Tournament has become one of the most competitive tournaments by bringing together a great variety of teams from Region III and beyond. The tournament is for select teams of all ability levels. We have had State Champion & R3PL level teams and we have had mid-level select teams participate. Most age groups have 3 playing divisions. The West Pines Kickoff Classic will be held in Pembroke Pines and Plantation. The main sites in Pembroke Pines are the West Pines Soccer Park, Silver Lakes North, Towngate Park, and Chapel Trail Sports Park. In Plantation, games will be played at Pine Island Park and Central Park. The West Pines Kickoff Classic is sanctioned by Florida Youth Soccer Association (FYSA) and is open to all US Soccer members (US Club Soccer, AYSO, USSSA). 7
