6 What is the Distinguished Level of Achievement? Upon meeting OISD Graduation Requirements, all OISD graduates will plan to achieve Distinguished Achievement. WHY EARN THE DISTINGUISHED LEVEL OF ACHIEVEMENT? A STUDENT MAY EARN A DISTINGUISHED LEVEL OF ACHIEVEMENT BY COMPLETING ALGEBRA II AND ALL OTHER REQUIREMENTS FOR FOUNDATION AND ENDORSEMENT. *A student must earn distinguished level of achievement and be in the top 10% to be eligible for top 10% automatic admission. *A distinguished level of achievement may position you among those first in line for a TEXAS grant (must be financially qualified).
7 What is an Endorsement? Every O Donnell student will plan to earn at least one endorsement. Prepares students for actual careers Offers focus in a particular area of interest (discuss interest inventories) Allows students to earn certifications

12 How Can I Earn Performance Acknowledgments? An O Donnell ISD student may earn a performance acknowledgment for outstanding performance in/on one of the following: Dual Credit Courses Scores on PSAT, SAT, or ACT Scores on AP Exam Earn a Business or Industry Certification Bilingualism and Biliteracy * At least 12 hours of college academic courses with a grade of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale; or * An associate degree while in high school *A score on PSAT/NMSQT that qualifies the student for recognition by College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation; or *Combined critical reading and math score of at least 1250 on the SAT; or *Composite score of 28 on ACT (excluding the writing subscore) A score of 3 or above on a College Board AP exam; OISD offers AP English III and IV ServSafe Food Handler Floral Design Level I AWS SENSE Welding I OSHA Hunter Safety Microsoft PowerPoint Microsoft Access Microsoft Word Microsoft Word Expert Microsoft Excel Microsoft Excel Expert Child Development Associate *Complete all English language arts requirements and maintain a minimum GPA of 80; and *Must have participated in and met the exit criteria for a bilingual or ESL program; and scored at the Advanced High level on TELPAS *Other options may be available

Higher ranking = easier to get into college; discuss PSAT Higher ranking = more $$$ opportunities Top 10% = automatic admission into any Texas public college or university Valedictorian = your first year of college tuition is paid

21 What are some opportunities you should work for? Achievement Notebook Start NOW! Get a cheap notebook you won t lose. Write down every single involvement, honor, and achievement. Examples: Honor roll, perfect attendance, played tennis, went to play-offs, participated in UIL, got 3 rd place in district Spelling Makes life easier senior year for your resume and applications If you don t write it down, you WILL forget things!
