34 ADDITIONAL HELP WITH STAAR Practical Writing Students who have struggled on STAAR ELA either currently or in 9 th grade may be placed in this course; either by STAAR failure or teacher recommendation. Algebra Elective Students who fail to meet minimum standards on the 8 th STAAR Math Exam are required to take this course for local credit.
