4 Graduation Requirements The following requirements must be met to receive a diploma from the Liberty Union High School District Course Requirements (10 Credits = 1 year) Course Credits English: Students must pass 9 th, 10 th, 11 th and 12 th grade levels 40 Social Studies: a. One year of World History (10 th ) b. One year of U.S. History (11 th ) c. One semester of American Government (12 th ) d. One semester of Economics (12 th ) 30 Mathematics: Science: Students must pass three years of mathematics with completion of Algebra through Geometry. a. One year of Life Science (The Living Earth) b. One year of Physical Science (Chemistry in the Earth System or Physics in the Universe) Fine Arts or World Language: One year 10 Physical Education: a. One year of 9 th grade P.E. b. One year of 10 th grade P.E. 20 Health: Students must take one semester of health education 5 Electives: 115 Total number of credits required for graduation 270 Graduation Requirements In order to graduate and earn a diploma, students must (1) complete 270 credits; and (2) complete the required course of study as noted above. 7 College Entrance Tests The SAT and ACT are standardize tests measuring a student's readiness for college. Taking the SAT or ACT is a necessary step for high school students who want to apply/enter directly into a 4-year college/university. Note: students planning on attending a community college are not required to take these tests Difference between ACT and SAT is ACT has science which is 25% of the score and career component with Math only 25% of score. English is 50 %. SAT is 50% English and 50% Math.

8 Athletes and the NCAA Anyone planning on playing Division 1 or Division 2 sports? 1.Look over the NCAA page on the back of your booklet-take the right courses and earn the best grades to help you become eligible for Division 1 or Division 2 sport scholarship sign up for NCAA if interested in trying for an athletic scholarship. 2.College requirements are slightly different than the A-G. GPA + test scores: For college eligibility and NCAA eligibility, notice as your GPA goes up, your test score can be a bit lower. Page 4
