1 NAVODAYA VIDYALAYA SAMITI MINISTRY OF HRD, GOVT.OF INDIA BHOPAL REGION ADMISSION OF STUDENTS TO CLASS-XI AGAINST VACANT SEATS DURING THE SESSION As envisaged in National Policy of Education (NEP), 1986, Govt. of India has set up co-educational, fully residential institutions named Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in 35 States/ UTs excluding Tamil Nadu. At present, 629 such Vidyalayas are functional in the country. The main objective of these Vidyalayas is to provide good quality modern education including a strong component of culture, inculcation of moral values, awareness of the environment, adventure activities and physical education to the talented children predominantly from the rural areas, irrespective of their family s socio-economic condition. It is proposed to fill up the vacant seats in class XI which are likely to be available in JNVs during Online applications are invited for admission to Class XI of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas of the Districts, against the vacant seats, which are likely to be available in JNVs during Admission will be made on the basis of performance of students in Class X Board Examinations conducted by CBSE / State or other recognised Educational Boards. Admission in JNVs opted by the candidate will be considered subject to fulfilment of admission criteria and availability of Vacancies in JNV concerned. Eligibility Date of Birth of the candidates seeking admission to Class-XI shall be between 1 st June 2000 and 31 st May 2004 ( both days inclusive). The candidate must have passed Class X during the academic session from a recognized school affiliated to CBSE or any other State Education Board of the State where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is located. The merit list will be prepared as per marks obtained by the applicant in Class X Board Exam and the admission will be given as per eligibility of candidate and other criteria of NVS against the vacant seats available in the JNVs concerned. Selection of students will be done as per following steps: a) District wise merit list will be prepared and students will be selected against the vacancies under various categories. b) After selecting students against the vacancies in the JNV of the district as mentioned above, a common merit list will be prepared at State level. Further vacancies, if any, exit in other JNVs of the same State will be filled 2

2 from the State level merit list by considering the option exercised by the candidates. c) If the selected candidate does not join even after making all efforts, vacant seats will be filled only from State level merit list. How to Apply The candidate can fill the online application form directly on NVS website from 12 th June 2018 (from 24:00 Hrs). While education in the schools is free including board, lodging, uniforms and textbooks, a nominal fee of Rs. 600/- per month is collected from the students of Classes IX to XII only. However, children belonging to SC/ST, Girls and from families whose income is below poverty line (BPL) are exempted from payment of fee. In respect of wards of Govt. employees who are eligible for children education allowance, Rs.1500/- per month has to be paid. The last date to apply is 5 th July 2018 (24.00 hrs). Applications are invited against the vacant seats in class XI, if any, in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas after admitting the students who studied Class-X in JNVs. If, no vacancy is available in the JNV opted by the candidate, the application will be considered for preparing the state merit list. 3 NAVODAYA VIDYALAYA SAMITI MINISTRY OF HRD, GOVT.OF INDIA BHOPAL REGION DETAILS FOR ADMISSION OF STUDENTS IN CLASS-XI AGAINST VACANT SEATS IN JAWAHAR NAVODAYA VIDYALAYAS 1.0 Notification Online applications are invited for admission to Class XI of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas of the Districts during the academic year , against the vacant seats, which are likely to be available in JNVs during the academic year Admission will be made on the basis of performance of students in Class X Board Examination conducted by CBSE / State or other recognised Educational Boards. 2.0 Objectives The main objectives of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti as set forth in the Memorandum of Association are: 2.1 To provide good quality modern education including a strong component of culture, inculcation of values, awareness of the environment, adventure activities and physical education to the talented children predominantly from the rural areas, without regard to their family s socio-economic condition. 2.2 To ensure that all students of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti attain a reasonable level of competence in three languages as envisaged in Three Language Formula. 2.3 To serve, in each district, as focal point for improvement in the quality of school education in general, through sharing of experiences and facilities, and 2.4 To promote national integration through migration of students from Hindi to non- Hindi speaking State and vice-versa. 3.0 Salient Features of Navodaya Scheme 3.1 Good quality modern education for talented children predominantly from rural areas. 3.2 Co-educational and fully residential, up to Class-XII. 3.3 Free education including board and lodging as well as expenses on Uniforms, Text Books, and Stationery etc. 4

4 3.4 Affiliated to CBSE. 3.5 Admission is at Class-VI through objective type test designed and conducted in the concerned district. Lateral Entry Admission is done against the vacant seats in classes- IX & XI. 3.6 Implementation of Three-Language Formula. 3.7 The medium of instruction in JNVs is the mother tongue or regional language up to class VIII and English thereafter for Maths & Science and Hindi for Social Science. Students of JNVs appear for X and XII class examinations of the CBSE % of students in Class-IX from a Vidyalaya located in one linguistic area spend one academic year in a Vidyalaya in a different linguistic region to promote national integration through understanding of the diversity and plurality of country s cultures and people. 4.0 Eligibility 4.1 Date of Birth of the candidates seeking admission to Class-XI shall be between 1 st June 2000 an 31 st May 2004 ( both days inclusive). 4.2 The candidate must have passed Class X during the academic session from a recognized school affiliated to CBSE or any other recognised State Education Board of the State where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is located. 5.0 Criteria for Admission of Students to Class-XI against vacant seats 5.1 Admission of students will be made against available vacancies in Class-XI on the basis of marks secured by students in Class-X Board Exam during academic session Selection of students will be done as per following steps: a) District wise merit list will be prepared and students will be selected against the vacancies under various categories. b) After selecting students against the vacancies in the JNV of the district as mentioned above, a common merit list will be prepared at State level. 5 5.3 The selected students will be intimated by the Principal of the concerned JNV. 5.4 Newly admitted students have to undergo a medical check up by the Vidyalaya Doctor. Students suffering from infectious disease/serious ailments shall not be admitted. 5.5 Admission in JNVs opted by the candidate will be considered subject to fulfilment of admission criteria and availability of Vacancies in JNV concerned. 6.0 CRITERIA FOR STREAM ALLOTMENT Streams available in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas will be allotted to students as per the criteria decided by the Samiti which is as under: Science Stream with Maths 57% marks in Maths in Class X 57% marks in Science in Class X 62.5% in Science & Maths taken together in Class X 62.5% in aggregate of all subjects in Class X CRITERIA FOR STREAM ALLOTMENT Science Stream without Maths 50% marks in Maths in Class X 57% marks in Science in Class X 57% aggregate of all subjects in Class X Commerce Stream with Maths 57% marks in Maths, if Maths is offered as compulsory subject in this stream. 50% aggregate of all subjects in Class X Humanities Stream All students who have passed class X Commerce Stream without Maths 50% marks in Maths. 50% aggregate of all subjects in Class X Vocational Stream All students who have passed class X 7.0 Additional weightage of marks to NCC/ Scouts & Guides/ Sports & Games Additional weightage to NCC/ Scouts & Guides/ Sports & Games along with average marks scored by the applicants of Class-XI lateral entry test is as under: 6
