2 , and s Summary Riverside County Office of Education and dropout rates for counties, districts, and schools across California were calculated based on four-year cohort referring to this particular group of students information using the state's California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS). This is the sixth time that four-year cohort information was collected. The cohort rates have been used to determine whether schools have met their targets for increasing the graduation rate for the Adequate Yearly Progress reporting under the federal school accountability system since. The cohort dropout rate is calculated for high school students, grades nine through twelve. completion rate reflects the percent of students who have successfully completed the minimum course requirements for entry into the UC or CSU system. 1. County and s: Pages 1-3 For the sixth year in a row, Riverside County's graduation rate climbed as the dropout rate fell, particularly for African American students, Hispanic students, English Learners and Socioeconomically Disadvantaged students. In Riverside County, 87.4 percent of students who started high school in graduated with their class in. That is up 2.2 percentage points from the graduation rate and 9.7 percentage points from the graduation rate (see Page 1). The Riverside County graduation rate was 87.4%, the 3rd highest of any California county with 10,000 or more high school graduates. rates for Riverside County increased by 2.2 percentage points over the prior year, the 4th largest increase of any California county with 10,000 or more high school graduates. From to, graduation rates for Riverside County have increased by 9.7 percentage points, the 3rd largest increase of any California county with 10,000 or more high school graduates (see Page 1). The Riverside County dropout rate was 7.7%, the 3rd lowest of any California county with 10,000 or more high school graduates. rates for Riverside County decreased by 1.6 percentage points over the prior year, the 4th largest decrease of any California county with 10,000 or more high school graduates. From to, dropout rates for Riverside County have decreased by 7.4 percentage points, the 6th largest decrease of any California county with 10,000 or more high school graduates (see Page 2). From to, the cohort graduation rate for English Learners has increased significantly, from 70.2% in to 77.9% in (+7.7 percentage points). The cohort dropout rate for English Learners has decreased by 6.2 percentage points from i
3 19.4% in to 13.2% in. graduation rates show that all student subgroups demonstrate improvement between 5.3 and 14.8 percentage points (see Page 3). Largest gains were seen among English Learners and African American students at 14.8 and 13.7 percentage points respectively. rates for Hispanic and Socioeconomically Disadvantaged students also climbed 12.3 and 11.8 percentage points respectively, from to. However, a gap in graduation rates still persists between Hispanic students (86.3%), Socioeconomically Disadvantaged students (84.7%), African American students (84.5%), English learners (77.9%) or students with disabilities (69.2%) and their white peers (89.6%). In addition, there is a significant difference between female students (90.9%) and male students (84.0%). Along with the rise in the graduation rate, there was a dip in the dropout rate. Among English learners, 13.2 percent dropped out from cohort, down 12.2 percentage points from cohort. Among African American students, 9.3 percent dropped out from cohort, down 10.0 percentage points from cohort. Among Hispanic students, 8.3 percent dropped out from cohort, down 9.5 percentage points from cohort. Among Socioeconomically Disadvantaged students, 9.4 percent dropped out from cohort, down 8.5 percentage points from cohort (see Page 3). 2. District and s: Pages 4-6 Top 5 districts with the highest graduation rates are: Temecula Valley Unified (93.8%), Murrieta Valley Unified (92.5%), Corona-Norco Unified (92.4%), Val Verde Unified (92.3%) and Palm Springs Unified (90.8%). Top 5 districts with the largest graduation rate increase are: Moreno Valley Unified (+20.5 percentage points), San Jacinto Unified (+14.7 percentage points), Val Verde Unified (+14.1 percentage points), Jurupa Unified (+11.5 percentage points) and Coachella Valley Unified (+10.9 percentage points). Top 5 districts with the lowest dropout rates are: Temecula Valley Unified (2.8%), Corona-Norco Unified (4.1%), San Jacinto Unified (4.4%), Riverside Unified (4.9%) and Val Verde Unified (4.9%). Top 5 districts with the largest dropout rate decrease are: Moreno Valley Unified (-14.4 percentage points), Val Verde Unified (-11.8 percentage points), Coachella Valley Unified (-10.5 percentage points), Jurupa Unified (-10.0 percentage points) and Palo Verde (-9.5 percentage points). 3. County s: Page 7 The Riverside County completion rate was 39.9%, the 9th highest of any California county with 10,000 or more high school graduates (see Page 7). completion rates for Riverside County increased by 1.9 percentage points over the prior year, the 3rd largest increase of ii

From to, completion rates for Riverside County have increased by 11.9 percentage points, from 28.0% in to 39.9% in, the 3rd largest increase of any California county with 10,000 or more high school graduates (see Page 7). 4. District s: Pages 8-9 Top 5 districts with the highest completion rates are: Temecula Valley Unified (67.1%), Murrieta Valley Unified (55.5%), Corona-Norco Unified (50.6%), Val Verde Unified (49.1%) and Riverside Unified (43.5%). Top 5 districts with the largest completion rate increase are: Val Verde Unified (+33.6 percentage points), Hemet Unified (+25.3 percentage points), Murrieta Valley Unified (+24.2 percentage points), Beaumont Unified (+21.6 percentage points) and Perris Union High (+19.8 percentage points). iii
