32 THE PRIVILEGE OF REPRESENTING IMMACULATE HIGH SCHOOL THROUGH ATHLETICS Participating in the athletic programs at Immaculate High School is a privilege.. Participating in athletic programs also offers our students the opportunity to represent our entire school community.

34 All students of Immaculate High School are responsible for their academic success. Athletics, as with any extracurricular activity, is secondary to his or her education at Immaculate High School. Academic commitments take precedence over any athletic interest. In other words, schoolwork comes first! In addition, all disciplinary obligations must be fulfilled before a student may participate in any extracurricular activity. Students may not try out, practice or be present as a team member unless they are academically eligible.

35 Students are ineligible for interscholastic athletics if they fail more than one course at the end of the preceding marking period as of the official day grades are issued by the office. Students who become eligible during a season may not be added to a team s roster.

36 Support your child by giving encouragement and showing interest in their team. Please refrain from officiating or coaching from the sidelines. The officials and coaches are experienced professionals, please allow them to do their jobs. There will be no tolerance for yelling at players, officials, or coaches. Thank you for your support

37 Student-athletes may not participate on an outside team of the same sport that they are participating in at Immaculate during the same season. It is expected that when student-athletes make a commitment to a team, that they follow through for the entire season. All Immaculate teams will practice and play games over school vacations. It is expected that all student-athletes will attend all team activities during these vacations. Failure to do so will result in disciplinary from the coach.

38 At any time, a parent may discuss the following with a coach: 1. Mental and physical treatment of your child. 2. Ways in which your child can improve 3. General concerns about your child s behavior

39 While the above are certainly important topics that should be discussed both openly and professionally, the following list must be left up to the discretion of the coach and are not open for discussion: 1. Playing time 2. Tryout procedures/selection of team members 3. Team strategy/play calling 4. Performance of other student athletes 5. Selection of captains 6. Selection of those to receive special awards

40 It is also important that the established chain of communication is followed. General issues that can occur should be handled in the following order: 1. Student-Athlete and Captains 2. Student-Athlete and Coach 3. Student-Athlete and Director of Athletics 4. Parent and Coach 5. Parent and Director of Athletics 6. Parent and Administration

41 All athletes must take the bus to away contests unless they have prior approval from the coach, Director of Athletics, and Administration. Parents may take their child home from away contests, with approval of the Coach and Director of Athletics. Paperwork is necessary to do this. These travel forms can be located on the Immaculate website. Please note that athletes may only go home with their parents. Carpooling home is not acceptable. Some coaches have policies that state that all athletes must take the bus home with the team. We ask parents to abide by these team specific rules.

43 M.A.S.C. stands for Mustang All Sports Club! The purpose of the club is to assist in perpetuating the goals of Immaculate High School s interscholastic athletics with financial and other support as recommended by the administration.

44 Some of the past MASC driven accomplishments include: New Bleachers and Flooring for Gym New baseball Dugouts New Mustang Valley Storage Shed Video Equipment for all teams to use Spirit Day (Homecoming) T-shirts for all students and faculty locker room upgrades light show in the gym 2 flat screen TV s in the cafe

45 Some of the past MASC driven accomplishments include: restoration of the baseball scoreboard and fences upgrade athletic weight & training facility a scoring table and team chairs wrestling team headgear camera and projector for coaches gym wall padding, mats & bars.

46 Purchased State Championship Plaques for each member & coach of our State Championship teams- Girls Cross Country & Girls Soccer Purchased pitching machine for Softball Team Purchased Girls/Boys Track& Field record Board to be installed in the gym this fall. Purchased new kitchen for concession stand.

47 MASC volunteers participate in a number of rewarding programs. Fall Field Clean Up Annual Golf Outing Concessions at Sporting Events Team Breakfast fundraiser
