Students must also complete one of the following: 1) Take 2 or more AP courses 2) Earn 6 verifiable college credits in Dual Credit courses from the approved Dual Credit list 3) Combination of AP and Dual Credit courses 4) Earn a combined score of 1250 or higher on the SAT (with a minimum of 560 in math and 590 in reading/writing) 5) Earn a composite score of 26 or higher on the ACT and complete the written section.

9 Additional Requirements All students must take a Math or Quantitative Reasoning course each year in High School All students - Financial Literacy proficiency -Take and pass the C.H.S Financial Literacy Examination. * All freshman will take this test at the Freshman Center during the school day in October -Take and pass the Personal Financial Responsibility course -Take and pass the Adult Roles and Responsibilities course

11 Course Description Guide Freshman courses begin on page 77 in the Course Description Guide (blue text) Sophomore through Senior courses (BLACK TEXT) are there for future reference Prerequisite = classes that you MUST complete before taking a course Recommendation = suggestions for course selection

12 Course Selection Sheet Students will have until Feb. 22nd to make and turn in their course selections. After selecting courses, students will have a total of 16 checkmarks on their sheets. All course selection sheets will need a parent and student signature.

13 Zero Hour Zero Hour is currently not offered to Freshman Students will have 2 permanent selections called No Zero Hour Course on their course selection sheet.

15 Math Addition for Basic Skills Math Concepts For students who struggle in 8th grade Math and need an extra semester of preparation before taking Alg. I Second semester, students will take Alg. I, semester 1 Students will take Algebra I, semester 2 during summer school before their sophomore year.

22 Elective Courses Additional course offerings other than core subject requirements. If students are struggling in 8 th grade English it is not recommended to take a World Language freshman year. Consider a Study Hall (no credit) One credit/one semester vs. Two credits/year long (two semesters)

23 World Language SPANISH I or II, FRENCH or JAPANESE Should you move on to Spanish II as a 9 th grader after taking Spanish I as an 8 th grader? Keep in mind. Spanish is spoken about 90% of the time in Sp. II Mastering specific skills in Spanish I is essential before moving on to Spanish II, III and IV.

24 High School Courses Taken While In Middle School PE I Preparing for College and Careers Spanish I Algebra I Geometry PE I and Preparing for College and Careers will be automatically placed on the high school transcript and will be figured into your GPA. Algebra I, Geometry and Spanish I will automatically be placed on the high school transcript unless repeated in 9th grade. For Spanish I, you will have the option to remove those credits if you do not move on to Span. II

Did you choose a Language Arts Lab &/or Algebra 1 Lab, if needed? Did you list alternate courses? Did you and your parent sign? Do you have 16 boxes selected?

29 Freshman Jump-Start On Monday, August 13th we would like the Class of 2022 to participate in our first annual Freshman Jump-Start! This will give students an opportunity to experience CFC before the first day of school. *Time is TBD
