3 Course Changes AP English 12 Acc AP Calculus II BC AP Biology II Acc AP US History Acc AP Chemistry II Acc AP Literature Composition AP Calculus BC AP US History AP Biology AP Chemistry Valedictorian Candidates Requirements remain the 19 traditional AP & accelerated courses. Val candidates can take new AP courses but they are not required nor will it advance one student over another. Pick up Val check list Special Circumstances Valedictorian: Must successfully complete EVERY accelerated class required and pass ALL classes taken with an A. The checklist is available from Mrs. Weiss. If you request Marching Band, you must also request Symphonic Winds. If you request Broadway Dinner, you must also request a Choir. Jazz Big Band is offered as.5 credit AND as 1 full credit (#725 _ 1). Choose the CORRECT course! Special Circumstances Some courses require an instructor s approval. Check pre-requisites! Foreign Language - can be a college requirement but is not a GM requirement. You must remediate ANY failed course required for graduation.
4 Scheduling Options Requiring Special Procedures Education Academy Independent Study Dual Enrollment Student Apprentice.25 credit Kids to Kids Release Period Use the Scheduling Priority Survey or sign up in Guidance Education Academy Have an interest in a career in Education, Social Work, Psychology or Related Fields? Education Academy will provide you with an opportunity to tutor at our elementary schools prior to their start time (8AM-9:15AM). Includes a visit to EUP You will be required to provide your own transportation or make transportation arrangements. If interested, make this one of your Elective Choices. Independent Study Independent Study represents a current GMHS offering that does not fit into your schedule OR a course not offered at GMHS. Independent Study will not be listed in power school as a course. If you are interested, use the Scheduling Priority Survey and Complete the GM Independent Study APPLICATION which serves as a mandatory step in the process. This course requires counselor approval. Dual Enrollment Dual Enrollment will not be listed in PowerSchool as a course. If you are interested, use the Scheduling Priority Survey and pick up DE Information Sheet. Work with EUP Admissions & Mr. Korb to register for courses. DE Courses cannot overlap GM class times. Families are responsible for the cost of the course(s) plus books.
5 Student Apprentice.25 credit value. Involves assisting with tasks in a specific office or for an instructor. Student Apprentice will not be listed in Power School as a course. If you are interested, use the Scheduling Priority Survey. This course requires counselor approval. Kids to Kids Kids to Kids will not be listed in PowerSchool as a course. If you are interested, use the Scheduling Priority Survey. This course has limited enrollment and requires instructor approval. Senior Release AS Erie County Technical School (ECTS). RELEASE will not be listed in PowerSchool as a course. If you are interested, please use the Scheduling Priority Survey and Complete the GM RELEASE APPLICATION which serves as a mandatory step in the process. Release students must have parent approval and no obligations. This course requires counselor approval. ECTS Lab Openings for the School year. Students do not need to complete 3 full years at ECTS- students may opt for only one year. ECTS Lab counts as 4 electives. Online Scheduling Instructions Log into your powerschool account: Username: year_lastnamefirstname Password: student ID # Click on Class Registration on the left hand side under the Navigation heading. Click on the pencil and it will list each available class along with the teacher recommendation.
8 Online Scheduling Instructions Click the box to the left of the class you wish to register for and then click okay. Use the previous directions to schedule for core, required, elective and alternate courses. Submitting Your Schedule Online Check to make sure you have green checkmarks next to courses. Once you have chosen all of your courses, hit the Submit button. The credits from your core selections + your electives must equal a total of 8 credits. Alternate course selections should be different from elective selections. If you receive an error message, you must correct errors to submit your schedule. Submitting Your Schedule Online When you are finished with your course selections hit Submit. If you miss this step you will have to start over. Schedule what you want & WANT WHAT YOU SCHEDULE Once your courses are successfully submitted, your course requests will be listed for you to view. Carefully choose electives and alternates
9 ALL schedule changes (for the year) must be requested by the date provided to you when scheduling information is available to you in August. Review your schedule for the entire year. Request any changes prior to the start of school. A few things to remember - complete credit check - complete Scheduling Priority Survey & Career Pathway interest - - ask teachers if you have questions about recommendations -- log out of PS when done Questions?
