5 LaMoille High School LHS Drama 2017 STEAM Conference This year in 2017 the drama club is having a play as it has before. The whole play itself is made from five separate and small, how you say spoofs, of Shakespeare plays that are comedic overviews in today s common language. The title of the script is Shakespeare on the Green: Fun, Frantic and Slightly Fractured Introductions to Shakespeare Plays. As I said before there are five small plays in the whole script and this was chosen to make it easier for people with tight schedules to join. For example: someone who couldn t show up until later could take part in one of the later plays or some who could only stay for a certain time can be in one of the earlier ones. As a result of this compromise there are more than twenty students involved in the overall making of the performance. All the plays included are: The Taming of the Shrew, King Lear, Comedy of Errors, Merry Wives of Windsor, and The Winter s Tale. The play will take place on March 24 th and 25 th at 7:00 p.m., which are Friday and Saturday. Tickets will be sold at the door $5 each. We hope you can make it! At the end of last school year there were a couple of students that wanted some way to share all of the information that they had learned about STEAM. These students thought of a conference that they would host in March of the following year. With the beginning of the new school year, the conference has been worked on every day. There are seventeen students that are on the STEAM Conference Planning Committee. The STEAM Conference is a student-led group that is working to try and teach other students about how they can use STEAM in their everyday lives. At the STEAM Conference the goal is to try and educate students about how they can bring STEAM back to their school. The STEAM Conference is free to any school that would like to join. The date of the STEAM Conference is Tuesday March 14, The location of the STEAM Conference is at Illinois Valley Community College.

6 LaMoille High School 2017 Track Season Preview Hoopla Week Track season is almost here! Bring on the under armor and spikes and the cold, rainy training days. Hopefully this season will be less stormy than the last, having had many of its meets cancelled. Both boys and girls lost star seniors last year, but there are promising freshmen coming up to replace them. Girl s practice is due to start February 15 th, and Coach Wanda will begin conditioning February 13 th for both teams. The girls first meet will take place on March 4 th at Illinois Wesleyan. On the 18 th of March, the boys will have their first meet located at Byron. Both teams will race in hopes to qualify for Indoor State at Wesleyan at the end of the month. it has been a crazy week here in LaMoille High School. It has been fun seeing everyone dress up for the different events throughout the week. Monday was Spirit Day. Everyone showed school spirit by wearing our school colors red and white, not to mention all the fun and creative ways everyone showed their spirit. Tuesday was Senior Citizen Day. The kids dressed up as senior citizens, some bringing canes and others wearing their grandparent s clothes. Ever wondered what it s like to switch genders for a day? Just ask the kids from LaMoille High School. Wednesday was Gender Bender day. It was a roller coaster ride seeing everyone participate in such a peculiar day. Are you ready to be dazzled? The kids of LaMoille dressed to impress for Formal Day Thursday! Did I say kids? I meant these wonderful young adults who looked quite exquisite. But after a long day of looking so good I think it s time to head to bed in our nice comfy pajamas. Well lucky us we can come to school in our pajamas for Friday is P-jay day! After a long week of exciting and creative dress-up it is finally acceptable to come to school wearing your pajamas. That puts, the cherry on top of this wonderful week.

7 LaMoille High School 2017 LaMoille/Ohio Baseball The 2017 LaMoile/Ohio baseball season should be an exciting one this year. We return all but one player from last year s team with the addition of a few more kids. We look to be very competitive this season with a lot of playing experience coming back. We re looking for our three main pitchers to step up to the plate and pitch very well this year. With the new pitch count going into effect it hurts small schools like us, so we will be looking for a few more pitchers to step up and help out when needed. Our team goal this year looks to be in the top 3 in the conference and to win a regional. Coach Anthony and I are looking forward to the season and very excited to have the numbers and athletes this year. -Coach Shrimplin

8 LaMoille High School The Babies of Lamoille Girls Basketball LaMoille is proud to announce and introduce the newest little members of LaMoille. Principle Brent Ziegler and his wife Holly Ziegler had a wonderful little boy. His name is Brice James Ziegler and was born on September 9, 2016 weighing 7 pounds, 6 oz.
