4 *PE WAIVERS Students participating in 2 full seasons of marching band, an athletic program, or cheerleading may apply for a waiver for PE class (1/2) credit Students choosing to do so will be required to enroll in another ½ credit academic elective course

8 HONORS DIPLOMA REQUIREMENTS Subject English Math Science Criteria 4 units 4 units (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II or equivalent and another higher level course or a 4-year sequence that contains equivalent content) 4 units, including Physics and Chemistry Social Studies Foreign Language Fine Arts Grade Point Average 4 units 3 units, including at least 2 units in each language studied 1 unit 3.5 on 4.0 scale ACT/SAT Score (excluding scores from Writing section) Must meet 7 of the 8 requirements. 27 ACT/1210 SAT

Program must lead to an industry recognized credential, apprenticeship or be a part of an articulated career pathway which can lead to postsecondary credit 3.5 on 4.0 scale 27 ACT/1210 SAT Achieve the proficiency benchmark established for the appropriate Ohio Career-Technical Competency Assessment or the equivalent

10 AP CHS Offering of college-level courses for ambitious secondary school students AP courses are more challenging and require more work than other high school courses AP Exams are taken at the end of the year (May) Scores are 1 (low) to 5 (high) Most colleges give credit for score of 3 of better Check with your college(s) of choice to see if credit is granted 90% of colleges attended by AP candidates give credit and/or advanced placement for acceptable scores Student selection for AP courses is based upon teacher recommendations and additional criteria as listed in course descriptions AP courses are offered 2 nd semester, and all students must take the corresponding Honors course 1 st semester

13 COLLEGE CREDIT PLUS Formerly Post Secondary Education Options ALL CCP classes are graded on a 5 point scale Students can begin earning college credits while still enrolled in high school More information in March 2017 meeting

14 COLLEGE AND THE WORLD OF WORK It is not too early for sophomores to be thinking along these lines If I were to poll your students about who plans to go to college, 100% would say they are going Our records show that about half of them actually follow through Despite much political pondering to the contrary, college is not necessarily for everyone

15 COLLEGE VISITATIONS & JOB SHADOWING Students now have 12 curricular days for college visitations and/or job shadowing Map Your Future is available to help plan these activities Limited to 6 days per year Limitations can be lifted for unique circumstances There is a form to fill out in order to take advantage of these days. It is available in guidance or on the school website

PICKAWAY-ROSS CAREER & TECHNICAL CENTER Provides juniors and seniors with skills, training, and certification to be used in specific vocational field Must have a MINIMUM of 10 credits by conclusion

17 PRCTC OPTIONS FOR JUNIORS Students can choose to participate in full day at PRCTC. Students can choose to participate in Health Tech (PRCTC sponsored program) at CHS. Students can choose to participate in half day at CHS and half in the new magnet courses through PRCTC
