4 Electrical Insulators and Accessories Sectional Committee, ETD 06 NATIONAL FOREWORD This Indian Standard which is identical with IEC Tests on indoor and outdoor post insulators of ceramic material or glass for systems with nominal voltages greater than V issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) would be adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendations of the Electrical Insulators and Accessories Sectional Committee, ETD 06 and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council. With the publication of this standard, IS 2544 : 1973 Porcelain post insulators for systems with nominal voltage greater than 1000 Volts shall be withdrawn since the requirements given in this standard have been covered in the superseded standard. The text of IEC Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following: a) Wherever the words International Standard appear, referring to this standard, they should be read as Indian Standard. b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the Current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker. In this adopted standard, reference appears to certain International Standards for which Indian Standards also exist.
