5 Endorsements Business and Industry Arts and Humanities Multidisciplinary Studies Public Service STEM must have Alg. II, Chemistry and Physics Students must declare an Endorsement area in 8 th grade Students will review selection during PACE class and may change endorsement area(s)

6 Endorsements A student may earn an endorsement by successfully completing: FHSP requirements curriculum for the specific endorsement; four (4) math credits: and four (4) science credits; and two (2) additional elective credits TOTAL = 26 credits

7 Distinguished Level of Achievement A student must earn Distinguished Level of Achievement to be eligible for the top 10% automatic admission program. The Distinguished Level of Achievement requires: 4 credits in math, including Algebra II 4 credits in science All Foundation High School Program requirements At least one endorsement

8 STEM Science, Technology, Engineering, Math The STEM endorsement must include Algebra II Chemistry Physics regardless of the option the student chooses to meet the endorsement requirements.

9 STEM Continued Options (5) Computer Science 3 courses Computer Programming Computer Science AP Advanced Computer Science or Computer Science Problems and Solutions CTE 4 credits by taking at least 2 courses in the same cluster that lead to a final course in the STEM cluster with at least 1 course at the advanced level (3 rd year of higher course in the sequence)

10 STEM Continued Options more Math 5 credits: Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra II AND 2 courses for which Algebra II is the prerequisite Science 5 credits: Biology, Chemistry, and Physics AND 2 courses from the 4 th science course list Combination Algebra II, Chemistry, Physics and 3 more credits from no more than 2 of the areas (CTE, Computer Science, math, and science)

11 Business and Industry Options (3) CTE 4 credits by taking at least 2 courses in same career cluster Agriculture, Food, & Natural Resources Architecture & Construction Arts, Audio/Video Technology, & Communications Business Management & Administration Marketing Information Technology Manufacturing Hospitality & Tourism Finance Transportation, Distribution, & Logistics with at least 1 advanced course (3 rd or higher course in the sequence)

14 Public Service Options (2) CTE 4 credits by taking at least 2 courses in same career cluster Education & Training Health Sciences Human Services With at least 1 advanced course (3 rd or higher course in the sequence) JROTC Four (4) courses for 4 credits

15 Arts & Humanities Options (4) Social Studies Total of 5 courses for 5 credits Foreign Language Four levels of the same foreign language OR two levels of two different languages. Fine Arts 4 courses in same fine arts area OR 2 courses in 1 area and 2 courses in a different area. English 4 English elective credits from the following English IV or IV AP Literary Genres Creative Writing Research and Technical Writing Humanities Communications Applications

16 Multidisciplinary Studies Options (3) 4 x 4 Four (4)courses in each of the 4 core subject areas to include English IV and chemistry and/or physics AP Four(4) AP credits or four (4) dual credit course credits from among English, math, science, social studies, LOTE, or fine arts CTE Four (4) courses that prep a student to enter the workforce/post secondary ed without remediation from within one endorsement area or among endorsement areas not in a coherent sequence

17 Prerequisite- a course requirement needed before students can be allowed to enroll in an advanced course or elective New Course Levels L = on-level K = above level more rigorous; similar to Level 1 in middle school H = Horizons (G/T) - must be tested and identified AP = Advanced Placement earn possible college credit by taking AP exam in the spring DC = Dual Credit earn both high school credit and college credit for specific high school courses; specific entry requirements must be met before enrolling in these courses

Foreign Language (at least 2 years) Electives choose from your endorsement and option; consult the career cluster pathways in the back of your 8 th Advisory book.

20 PACE- Personal, Academic, and Career Explorations 1/2 credit Required in Grade 9 This one semester course is designed to assist students in the transition from middle school to high school and build skills that will assist them in future transitions to career, college, adulthood, and independence. PACE will link relevant concepts so that students understand the "big picture" in preparing for life after high school while still in high school. Students will actively work to develop a personalized plan for life success based on their career aspirations. Coursework is focused around the skill areas of personal/social, academic, and career and life.
