3 Program Information About The Dual Enrollment Equity Act passed by the General Assembly in 2013 and the Dual Enrollment Regulations passed by the RI Board of Education in April 2015, grant qualified high school students access to the full course catalog of the three public institutions of higher education in an effort to expand advanced coursework opportunities for students and increase awareness and access to college experiences. Furthermore, the Governor s PrepareRI Dual Enrollment Fund, covers the costs of tuition and fees associated with taking these courses for qualified public high school students. This fund was approved for the academic year in the FY17 state budget. The following courses represent only a portion of the course catalog at this institution but are those that are recommended as most appropriate for high school students. Should you have questions about courses that are not listed in this document but are available in the institution s course catalog, please contact the representative listed below. Dates/Deadlines Dual Enrollment Registration: 5/2-8/26 Drop Date: 9/19 Requirements Criteria for participation in dual and concurrent enrollment programs are program specific. Running Start (dual enrollment) allows high seniors who are academically ready to attend college full-time. Admission to the program is subject to the student s meeting program admission criteria, including college-level placement on Accuplacer testing for math, reading and English writing courses. Courses taken in college are chosen to allow student to meet their specific high school graduation requirements. 3
4 High School Enrichment (dual enrollment) requires junior or senior status and guidance counselor recommendation. Exceptions to grade level status must have the recommendation of the school counselor and/or school administrator and the approval of the CCRI department chairperson for the selected course(s). Accuplacer assessment may be required depending on the course(s) selected. Contact Running Start: Adam Moreau, Admissions Officer (401) High School Enrichment: John Araujo, Assistant Director of Admissions (401)
