1 CBSE/ACAD/DIR./2018 Date: Circular No. Acad - 19/2018 All Heads of Schools affiliated to CBSE Subject: Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) Saksham National Competition 2018 To sensitize young students about Conservation of Petroleum products and Environment Protection, which are issues of national importance, the Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) is holding Saksham National Competition 2018 Painting, Essay Writing and Quiz for school children. The competition is being conducted in the following categories: For Schools only: Essay Painting Quiz for selecting School team and thereafter District, State and Zonal teams. Zonal teams shall participate in National Finals For Individuals only: Individual Quiz for achieving Bronze, Silver or Gold Level, in which children in prescribed age group can participate. This competition shall be launched on 1 st July, The winners shall receive an array of attractive gifts, including trips to Singapore, laptop and cash prizes. The national winners shall be felicitated in a function in Delhi on Detail instructions for participating in the competition are available on the portal and are also enclosed herewith. 3 Saksham National Competition Essay, Painting & Quiz BUMPER PRIZES TO BE WON- WORTH OVER Rs. 2 CRORES Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA), under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Govt. of India, is committed to make oil conservation a National Movement. As a part of its mandate, various literary and cultural events are conducted for school students. The Essay writing, Painting, and Quiz competitions aim to raise awareness among youth about practical conservation tips for the conservation of Petroleum products in industrial, transport, agriculture and domestic sector, and how to practice such tips in their daily lives. For effective communication, students may choose to present their ideas and messages for conserving petroleum products and reducing emission, in English, Hindi or Regional languages. 5 ESSAY COMPETITION INSTRUCTIONS Only those schools in India which are recognized by Central & State Boards, can par cipate. It is mandatory for the Schools to conduct the compe on in school premises in a fair manner. It is requested that all eligible (maximum number of) students take part in this compe on, as this is in Na onal interest. Schools to conduct Essay compe ons in one or more of the following languages- Hindi, English, Assamese, Bengali, Gujara, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Maithili, Dogri, Nepali, Bodo and Santhali. Eligibility: Students of classes 7, 8, 9 & 10. One student can par cipate in only one language. Essay should not exceed 700 words. Student must submit essay in his/her own handwri ng. School is required to evaluate the entries, and upload Best two entries in each language, in which the compe on has been conducted at the school, on ons.org. The decision of the Jury/Expert commi ee appointed by PCRA will be final and binding in respect of all ma ers concerning the compe on. 2. Plagiarism will lead to cancella on of entry. In case the par cipa on in a par cular language is very low, the prize winning entries shall be evaluated by an expert/ jury, appointed by PCRA. If the best entries do not conform to the general standard of entries in other languages, PCRA reserves its right to ra onalize the prizes for that par cular language. The decision of PCRA in this regard will be final and binding. The entries submi ed would be the sole property of PCRA, with right to use and right to edit for any purpose it considers appropriate. Children of employees of PCRA are not eligible for the prizes. Schools should try to hold the compe ons as early as possible to avoid last minute rush in submission. 6 PAINTING COMPETITION INSTRUCTIONS Only schools in India recognized by Central & State Boards of India, can par cipate. It is mandatory for the Schools to conduct the compe on in school premises in a fair manner. It is requested that all eligible (or maximum number of) students take part in this compe on, as this is in Na onal interest. Eligibility: Two categories: Students of classes 5, 6 & 7 (Junior) Students of classes 8, 9 & 10 (Senior) School to conduct compe ons in any one or both the categories. Use only A3 size art sheet. Time Limit: 2 Hours School is required to evaluate the entries for each category, and upload Best two entries in each category (Junior/Senior), in which the compe on has been conducted at the school, on ons.org. 7 SCHOOL QUIZ COMPETITION INSTRUCTIONS Only schools in India recognized by Central & State Boards of India, can par cipate. This compe on shall be conducted only online through web portal ons.org upto State Level, and on ground ac va on there a er. It is mandatory for the Schools to conduct the compe ons in school premises in a fair manner. It is requested that all eligible (maximum number of) students take the online quiz, as it will add to their knowledge and is in Na onal interest. Eligibility: Students of classes 8, 9 & 10. Ques ons shall pertain to Fuel Conserva on, Environment, General Studies etc. The schools shall register the names of all Students against the school ID on the portal ons.org. All the students can then par cipate as Individuals in First Round. Each student shall be given a me limit of 10 minutes to a empt the quiz of 10 ques ons. So ware will select the two best scoring par cipants, who will form the School team. The School team (two best scoring par cipants) shall then par cipate in the second round or District level round, by logging in the portal, in school premises itself. This round will have 15 ques ons with a me limit of 10 minutes. The last date for par cipa ng at District level is 30th Sept The best school team (winner) at District level shall be informed by by PCRA. This team shall par cipate in third round by logging in the portal, in school premises itself, to compete for becoming State Level Winners. This round will have 30 ques ons with a me limit of 15 minutes The Window for State level shall open on 5th Oct The last date for par cipa ng at State level is 15th Oct The State Level winners (school team) shall be invited to par cipate in offline Zonal Rounds to be held at Delhi, for deciding the Zonal Finalists. The date and venue shall be advised by to the schools. The Zonal Finalists will be invited to par cipate in the Na onal Finals. PCRA shall bear expenses of travel. 8 INSTRUCTIONS FOR INDIVIDUAL QUIZ COMPETITION FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN This compe on shall be conducted online only through web portal ons.org and mobile applica on PCRA-Compe ons Available on Android/Windows/IOS Pla orm. Student to register online and upload scan copy or photo of I-card of school / cer ficate of Principal / Aadhar Card / Class 10th Cer ficate. An ac va on link will be sent to his/her ID for par cipa on Eligibility: Students of age years (students born on or a er and on or before ) Ques ons shall pertain to Agriculture, Conserva on, Environment, Energy & Fuel, Transport, General Studies and other categories. Compe on Period: First Level Quiz will have 10 ques ons with a me limit of 10 minutes. If the child answers 6 or more correctly, an online cer ficate of proficiency (Bronze Level) is issued to his/her registered ID, and can be downloaded from the portal itself. The second window shall open on qualifying the first level. Second Level Quiz will have 15 ques ons with a me limit of 10 minutes. If the child answers 10 or more correctly, an online cer ficate of proficiency (Silver Level) is issued to his/her registered ID, and can be downloaded from the portal itself. He/she becomes eligible for Final level. Final Level Quiz will have 30 ques ons with a me limit of 15 minutes. If the child answers 25 or more correctly, an online cer ficate of proficiency (Gold Level) is issued to his/her registered ID and can be downloaded from the portal itself.
