The evening begins with a club/extracurricular fair from 5:30-6:00 in the cafeteria. Parents and students should attend to see what amazing opportunities are available to students for teh school year. Parents will be able
4 to follow their student s schedule from 6:00-7:05. After 7:05, the club fair will resume and the PTSA table will be open. This is a great night to support the PTSA and there will be a PTSA general meeting in the Media Center at 7:15 that evening. The PTSA will have volunteers available to help explain PTSA support options for you and your students and to discuss all the events and items the PTSA supports and hosts for students and teachers throughout the school year. The KMHS PTSA is using a new website and newsletter delivery system for For all the information you need to know about our school, please visit: There, you can join PTSA by logging into your account and then scrolling down on the home page and clicking the Join PTSA button or by clicking the Our PTSA tab and clicking Membership on the drop-down menu. You can choose a regular PTSA membership or to be a PAL supporter, depending on if you d like state/national benefits or if you prefer only local benefits and keep 100% of your money at KMHS. You can also make donations in the same area, with or without purchasing a membership. What does the PTSA do with your membership money? We support students through college scholarships, food and volunteers for Homecoming, Shop with a Mustang, Special Education Dance and Field Days. We offer essay writing workshops and membership treats throughout the year. We help fund a senior breakfast, senior picnic and senior treats. We help fund a program to keep at risk kids in school. We support teachers with a Welcome Back breakfast both semesters, a Thanksgiving meal, a week full of fun activities for Teacher Appreciation, teacher grants to pay for needed classroom items the county doesn't pay for. We support our lunch staff, custodians, and administrators with a Holiday Fruit basket. We support KMHS families in need through an annual undergarment drive, gift card drive, and monthly food pantry. Your PTSA is very active and very giving.
6 Again, please join the PTSA today. $10 is a small price to pay for the quality school your students attend. If we all give a little, we accomplish A LOT. Great things go on at KMHS every single day. Be a part of it. Join PTSA. Make an additional donation if finances allow. KMHS has been selected to participate in Cobb EMC s Annual Meeting School Fundraiser for this Fall. The annual meeting is Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the North Georgia State Fair at Jim R Miller Park in Marietta. Participating schools can earn money the more people they have attend. Also while attending, Cobb EMC members will receive four free unlimited rides fair tickets to be used on one single day of the fair. When a Cobb EMC member attends the Annual Meeting and brings your school s fundraiser form, KMHS PTSA will receive the following amounts: Members Amount 20 $ $ $ $ $1,000 Registration begins at 8am and ends at 9:30am. We are expecting large crowds so members should arrive early. Due to the possibility of heavy traffic, allow yourself plenty of time. There will be lots of activities before the meeting for everyone to enjoy. The school with the most fundraiser forms from attendees to the Annual Meeting will receive a Grand Prize of $1,000. (one form per member) For KMHS to get credit for your attendance, you will need to bring the fundraiser form to the Annual Meeting. The fundraiser forms will be counted after to determine the grand prize winner. If our school has 20 or less members attend...we will still receive $100 just for participating.find the form here. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES ABOUND
7 Volunteer opportunities abound at KMHS: the attendance office, the counseling office and the PTSA all need any time you are willing to give to help make our school run smoothly. Please consider volunteering, even for just a few hours per semester in some capacity. You can view volunteer opportunities at the Membership Toolkit website by clicking on the Volunteer tab from the home page and then clicking the Volunteer Interests button. Thank you! FREE ACT/SAT COMBO TEST Kaplan is offering a FREE SAT/ACT Combo Test on Saturday, August 25 th. After taking the free test, students will have the option to sign-up for a SAT or ACT prep class at KMHS to help them
8 prepare for the October ACT or November SAT this fall at a discounted rate of $334. The FREE test is not required to sign-up for the discounted classes, but it can help students determine which test is best for them. Students will have to register for the FREE test online. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Mitchell in room 200 at KMHS. Again, the Free SAT/ACT Combo Test will be Saturday, August 25th from 8-12 at KMHS. Deadline to register for the free test is Tuesday, August 21 st. A representative from Kaplan will also be at Open House on Monday, August 20 th to answer any questions about the free test and/or SAT/ACT Preparation Classes. To register for the free class, please go to AMAZING TRAVEL EXPERIENCE AWAITS Interested in traveling overseas? Join Coach G and his worldwide adventures!
