2 The key to any success at life is hard work and dedication. Ramzi earned silver in the 400m at the Canadian Junior National Championships. He was given the opportunity to represent Canada at the Junior PanAm Games in 2015, earning bronze in the 4x400m relay. What s next?: Ramzi is striving to qualify for the 2016 World Junior Championships. He continues to strive towards representing Canada, aspiring to succeed in the Olympics in the near future. 3 Thanks for the opportunity to apply for this grant; it gives me hope that organizations such as the TEAM Fund truly cares about youth such as myself. Being part of a Track club helps to keep me focused, stay out of trouble and on the right path. My goal in Track is to get a University scholarship, and represent Canada on the world stage. 4 I have worked really hard to improve my Squash game. Emmanuella aspires to become a professional Squash player, and to represent Canada at international events. I am dedicated to improving my game and have been attending extra sessions that Urban Squash Toronto offers. EMMANUELLA DICKSON Age: 14 School: Weston Collegiate Institute Sport: Squash

5 Lashae aspires to represent Canada in the future. LASHAE DWYER Age: 13 School: Beverley Heights Middle School Sport: Basketball The funding support will be beneficial in alleviating some costs associated with playing and training at an elite level. Lashae was selected to participate in Canada Basketball s Centre for Performance, a developmental program for elite play.

6 Nathan attended the IAAF World Youth Championships, where he set a Personal Best time of in the 400m. The TEAM Fund would help remove the barriers to helping Nathan succeed. Nathan is striving to represent Canada in the 2020 Olympics. NATHAN FRIGINETTE Age: 16 School: St. John Paul II Catholic High School Sport: Track & Field

7 The TEAM Fund gives me the opportunity to achieve my goals as an athlete. Leah is training and developing with the Argonaut Rowing Club & the Hanlan Rowing Club. Leah is in grade 12, and is aspiring to attain a University scholarship for varsity Rowing. LEAH HOFFMEISTER Age: 17 School: Monarch Park Collegiate Sport: Rowing

8 I am a very focused and competitive athlete, working towards getting a scholarship while pursuing my dream of representing Canada one day. Sanjade is currently ranked 5 th in Ontario for his age category. Sanjade set the Outdoor Record in the 80m and 150m track events at Athletics Ontario Championships. SANJADE HYLTON Age: 15 School: Silverthorn Collegiate Institute Sport: Track & Field

9 My partner and I have done really well in our competitions. We are looking forward to our first National competition in Edmonton in December. Shaelene is determined to excel in Ice Dance and hopes to represent Canada in the future. She will compete at Nationals in Alberta with her partner later this year, where she hopes to skate herself to a Gold medal. As much as I am excited about my future, I am also conscious of the expenses that will be incurred. That is why any financial support I can get would be very much appreciated. 10 This grant would help, especially because the price of Rep Basketball is increasing. Kiara currently competes against the top 20 elite girls basketball programs in Ontario. She was selected to participate in an elite training program for the top players in the National curriculum. This grant will give me the funding needed to train and get better, playing and learning the sport I love, Basketball. KIARA LEVERIDGE Age: 14 School: Stephen Leacock Collegiate Institute Sport: Basketball

11 ARIEL MCCUAIG Age: 13 School: Oakdale Park Middle School Sport: Squash If I m able to play more tournaments and train more, I will become a better player and can compete at a more elite level. Ariel aspires to represent Canada, and to be the #1 ranked female Squash athlete in the World. The TEAM Fund will be able to support me in getting better equipment, more training and more competitive play in Canada and the USA.

12 I started to play Squash last year and I am hooked! Isaiah aspires to become a professional Squash athlete, and wants to represent Canada on the World stage. I started a year later than everyone else at my age, but I am able to train and compete with the older boys at Urban Squash Toronto. 13 I love Squash. I have improved a lot and continue to learn and improve on my match play. Husam aspires to be the #1 ranked male Squash athlete in the World. I want to be a professional Squash player when I grow up. I spend a lot of time watching the top players so I can learn from them and improve my game. 14 J.R. SPEED Age: 16 School: Northview Heights Secondary School Sport: Track & Field Track and Field is my life. It is the thing that I am best at, and the thing that I love the most. My best friends are my teammates and other athletes who I meet at competitions. J.R. set the 60m Hurdles Provincial Indoor Record, as well as the 100m Hurdles Metro Outdoor Record. At OFSAA, J.R. earned 1 st place finishes in the 100m Hurdles and 300m Hurdles. A TEAM Fund grant would help me get the training I need. The TEAM grant would help the entire family.

15 In 2013, Tolulope was the 3 rd fastest male in his age group in North America. In 2014, he improved and became the 2 nd fastest male in his age group in North America. Tolulope has demonstrated the capacity to be a Worldrenowned competitor. Ever since I was a kid, I have always dreamed about going to the Olympics and breaking the 100m and 200m World Records. TOLULOPE TAIWO Age: 16 School: R.H. King Academy Sport: Track & Field Tolulope has been a Provincial Champion in the 60m, 100m, 200m, 4x100m, 4x200m on multiple occasions.

16 I applied for the TEAM Fund to support my son s figure skating dream. Tommy earned a 2 nd place finish at COS Sectionals. He placed 4 th in National competitions through TOMMY TANG Age: 16 School: Bloor Collegiate Institute Sport: Ice Dance (Figure Skating) He will learn to appreciate the rewarding support that society has given him, and return the favour to society in the future.

17 I feel that sport helps me grow into a well rounded person. I am better because of the wonderful coaches, teammates and their parents. KHA VI AN TRAN Age: 15 School: R.H. King Academy Sport: Beach/Indoor Volleyball Kha Vi An is committed to working hard for her goal of being selected to the U16/U17 Team Ontario and Team Canada.
