This course is an option following Culinary Arts I. This course allows culinary students more in-depth study of baking and pastry arts. Areas of study include baking terminology, tool and equipment use, formula conversions, functions of ingredients, and methods used in creating breads, pastries, cookies, and other desserts. The fundamentals of dough and basic decorating skills are covered. The appropriate use of technology and industry-standard equipment is an integral part of this course. Note: Appropriate dress will be required (apron and closed toed shoes).

15 How to Enter Course Selections 1) Log on to your Infinite Campus account (if you have forgotten your log-in, please tell your English teacher immediately) 2) On the left hand side click on Course Registration: Spanish Springs High School 3) Next, click on Course Search on the upper middle section of the screen 4) Next, enter either part or all of the Course Name or Course Number and click Go

16 How to Enter Course Selections, cont. 5) Next, from the list that appears, click on the course you are specifically looking for 6) A course description will then pop up, scroll down to the bottom of the description and click Request this Course 7) Repeat steps 3, 4, & 5 for each of your 12 requests (6 fall semester courses and 6 spring semester course) 8) Also, repeat steps 3, 4, & 5 for your 4 alternates (2 fall semester alternates and 2 spring semester alternates), clicking request as an Alternate at the bottom of the course description 9) For a more detailed explanation of this process, go to click on the Academics tab, then click on the Directions for Electronic Registration link under the Registration section in the middle of the Academics page

17 Class of 2014 students can opt out of ACA if they meet the following criteria: Off campus both 3 rd and 6 th period On track to receive an Advanced or Honors Diploma Passing scores on all four components of the HSPE End junior year spring semester with C s or higher in all classes No major attendance issues during junior year No major behavior issues during junior year Take the ACT and the SAT during April, May or June of junior year Complete college brag sheet Complete formal resume Complete FAFSA forecaster Complete an on-line college search Complete an interest inventory Complete on-line navigation 101 lessons

18 Changing Classes after Pre-Registration Please note that courses selected during pre-registration must receive careful consideration. The classes that you select now will be your schedule for next year. Changes may only be made to your schedule after pre-registration if: The student has been placed into the wrong level of a subject. The student has already received credit in the course for which enrolled (i.e., completion of summer school or Credit-By-Exam) The student must drop an elective course in order to take a course required for graduation or in order to re-take a required course, which was not successfully completed. The student has an incomplete schedule or an over-filled schedule. A course is cancelled due to low pre-registration numbers or insufficient teacher allocation. ALL COURSE CHANGES FOR FIRST SEMESTER MUST BE MADE NO LATER THAN THE END OF THE SECOND WEEK OF THE SEMESTER. ALL COURSE CHANGES FOR THE SECOND SEMESTER MUST BE MADE NO LATER THAN THE END OF THE FIRST SEMESTER.
