1 Medicine February 2015 summary (Course Code A100 unless stated otherwise) Courses highlighted in purple are those which have restrictive requirements relating to Further Mathematics. Always consult the University s website for the most up to date information. Typical UKCAT/ Criteria for AS qualifications, Medical School Aberdeen AAA UKCAT AS do not form part of the offer. AS module re-sits are permitted providing the three final A levels are taken simultaneously over two years of study. Birmingham A*AA - Certificated and noncertificated results should be declared. Preference will be given to those applicants who offer AAAA, achieved by the end of the first year of A level study. Mathematics and Further Mathematics will not be considered as separate subjects. Brighton and Sussex AAAb BMAT At least four subjects required to AS level. Bristol AAA - At least four subjects to AS with a minimum of C in fourth subject. Three A levels taken together at first sitting over a maximum of two years of study. All A2 modules must be undertaken in Year 13. Not mentioned A levels must be completed within two years of study, certified at the first sitting and be the first attempt. Module re-sits allowed within the two years. Chemistry plus one subject from Biology/Human Biology, Maths and Physics is required. FM not accepted as a separate subject to A level maths. Chemistry and Biology A level required. If studying Maths, three modules including C3 and C4 required in Year 13. Maths A2 + FM AS will be considered, with an A required in AS FM. In this case, three modules must be studied in Year 13. Only one of these can be from the following list: M1, S1, D1 and FP1. The module results may contribute to either the Mathematics A Level or the Further Mathematics AS Level. Those applying with resit qualifications (other than two GCE AS Level modules) will not be entered into the selection system unless under very exceptional circumstances. Must be A2 examinations in one sitting. At least two sciences from Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths/Statistics. Either Biology or Chemistry must be included with the other taken to AS (grade A). Further Maths not accepted at A level but recognised at AS. Chemistry and another science required. To include Biology and/or Chemistry to at least AS level. Must include Biology/ Human Biology, and at least one other science (Chemistry or Physics). AS Further Maths not accepted if A level maths is one of the three A level subjects offered. Must include Chemistry and at least one of Biology, Maths and Physics. At both AS and A level, only one of Maths and Further maths will be considered. Imperial College London Keele Kings College, London AAAb BMAT If only one of Biology or Chemistry is offered to A level, the other must be offered at AS level with at least grade B. AAAb or A*ABb UKCAT Chemistry AS with minimum grade B if not taken to A level. AAAb UKCAT If only one of Biology or Chemistry is offered to A level, the other must be offered with grade A at AS level. Lancaster AAAb - A fourth subject is needed to at least AS level. Leeds AAA BMAT For those that do not have three cashed-in AS results (including Chemistry) we score the GCSE and A2 results. For those that have cashed-in at least three AS results, we will score the better of either your AS or GCSE results (but only one or the other, with both having equal potential value) along with your A2 results. There is therefore no disadvantage to declaring your AS results. Must be attained in a single sitting over a two year period. Must be predicted AAB if in A2 year to be considered. The three A levels must be attained in the same academic year. Resit candidates must previously have applied to study medicine at imperial, have attained at least CCC at first sitting and have acceptable extenuating circumstances. Subjects must be completed within two years. If more than two years is taken, applications would be considered once required grades have been achieved. Three A level subjects taken in one sitting after 2 years of study. Page 3 of 6 Need Biology and Chemistry at A level. Maths and Further Maths considered as separate subjects for both AS and A level. Chemistry and/or Biology required, plus a second science or maths subject. Further Maths not mentioned. Must have A level Biology or Chemistry plus one another science subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths /Further Maths). Only one from a combination of Maths with Further Maths will be considered, though then other subject is acceptable for the fourth AS. Must include Chemistry and/or Biology at A level. Maths / Further Maths not mentioned. Chemistry and Biology required to A level. Only one of Maths and Further Maths will be considered. A levels must include Chemistry. Specifically do not accept Chemistry with Maths and Further Maths as the combination of three A levels. Those taking a fourth A2 subject will be at an advantage over those taking three.

If Biology not offered to A level, at least a grade C at AS level must be offered. AAAb UKCAT Chemistry and Biology required to at least AS level. If not continuing with either subject to A level, a minimum grade B at AS is required. AS module re-sits taken within the two years of A level study are allowed. Resits of full AS levels are not accepted. AAAa UKCAT If Biology not offered to A level, it is required at AS level to a minimum grade B. Fourth AS subject required to grade A. Sheffield AAA UKCAT abbb required at AS level, including Chemistry and at least one other science (Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Psychology). These As levels must be taken after one year in one sitting. Early entry not accepted. A levels achieved prior to Year 13 will be considered as part of the overall academic strength of an applicant but won t count towards an offer the three accepted A levels must be taken over no more than two years of study. Resits of A levels are not accepted. An A level taken a year early will be counted. Students resitting A levels might be considered if they previously held a conditional form offer and attained AABa. All examinable components of the subject being re-sat must be retaken. Do not accept A level resits or examinations taken early. The three A levels must be studied for no longer than two years, passed on the first attempt, and taken in one sitting. Southampton AAAa UKCAT All qualifications are expected to be taken in one sitting. Early entry qualifications will not be considered. Re-sits of A level qualifications cannot be considered. Must include Chemistry and either Biology or Physics to A level. At least one of Chemistry or Biology to A level. A second science must be offered (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Maths). If Maths is offered, Further Maths is acceptable to AS level only. Three A levels to include chemistry and at least one from Biology, Physics and Maths. If Maths is offered, Further Maths cannot be offered at A level but will count at AS level. A levels to include Chemistry and at least one other science (Biology, Maths, Physics or Psychology). Do not count A level Further Mathematics for those who hold A level Mathematics. A levels to include Chemistry and Biology. Maths and Further Maths cannot both be offered at A level. Page 5 of 6

St George s, AAAb UKCAT Four AS subjects to include University of London Chemistry and Biology. Module re-sits will only be considered within the two year A level University College London (UCL) period. A*AAe BMAT Fourth subject required (pass grade) to AS level. AS or A level subjects taken early or over more than two years will count towards general educational background but will not count towards the main offer. * Lower case letters denote AS grades; capital letters denote A level grades. UKCAT is the UK Clinical Aptitude Test see A levels must be studied over a two year period and completed in year 13. A levels must be completed within two years. All AS and A2 components must be completed within a two year period (Year 12 and 13). A levels to include Chemistry and one other from Biology, Physics and Maths. Only one of Maths and Further Maths will be considered for the three subjects required at A level. A levels to include Chemistry and/or Biology.
