Wednesday (April 11 th ) 10 th Graders report to school at 7:30 a.m. and take the PSAT 10 until 12:00 p.m. Thursday (April 12 th ) 10 th Graders report to school at 10:50 a.m. and attend all of their classes until 2:20 p.m. Students will have lunch during their 1 st hour. 6 Swartz Creek High School Please take a moment to congratulate the following students! A big big thank you! Thank you to all who submit nominations for our students! Every month SCHS staff nominate outstanding students to be our students of the month. Freshman and Sophomore students get a certificate, and a gift card. Junior and Senior students are invited to attend a luncheon at The Redwood Lodge, hosted by the Genesee County Rotary Club. The Genesee County Rotary Club graciously hosts this event for not only Swartz Creek High School, but Powers Catholic High School and Carman-Ainsworth High School! At the end of the school year, SCHS Staff will vote for Student of the Year. The list for eligible seniors will be sent to staff Mid May. The winner of Student of the Year will receive a $1000 scholarship from the Genesee County Rotary Club. Every nomination that you submit is kept and carried over to the next month.

7 APRIL, 2018 High School Counseling Office Swartz Creek Community Schools CREDIT RECOVERY OPTIONS High school students who are in need of additional credits to meet the graduation requirements of 23 have additional opportunities to earn these credits. If a student is lacking credits he/she must see his/her counselor to establish a plan to meet graduation requirements. MME SAT PSAT TESTING April 10th, 11th and 12th ADVANCED PLACEMENT TESTING The 2018 A.P. Testing schedule begins Monday, May 7st and ends Friday, April 20th. The cost is $94.00 per test. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Horning SELECTIVE SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT All 18 year old males by law must register for Selective Service. You can register online at or at any Post Office. Failure to register is against the law and could result in a fine, prison time and a loss of financial aid for college. If you have any questions, please talk to your guidance counselor. Genesee Career Institute Students will be notified of their Genesee Career Institute class the week of April 4th. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Nolen. *** TESTING OUT *** High School credit may be earned in any course offered by the school through testing out. This applies to all SCHS courses except courses lower in sequence to those already passed. Students will have the opportunity to test out based upon the completion of the application process. This application must be completed, signed and returned to the Counseling Office by May 4th. 8 HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELING OFFICE Swartz Creek Community Schools April, 2018 SENIOR INFORMATION REMINDER-ALL FINES MUST BE PAID BEFORE YOU CAN GET YOUR CAP & GOWN * SENIORS AND HONORS NIGHT: Any senior who has received a scholarship or special recognition from a college or organization should notify the Counseling Office by May 18 so that they may be recognized at the Honors Night presentation on June 4th. Please bring documentation for the award to the Counseling Office. *HONOR CORDS: Honor Cords are based upon the GPA of seniors at the completion of 2nd. semester. Gold Cords are distributed to seniors who achieve a GPA of Silver cords are distributed to seniors who achieve a GPA of Because of time constraints, it is impossible for us to send out invitations to seniors who would be recipients of these cords at Honors Night. However, if your student had above a 3.3 at 1st semester, and maintained his/her grades through 2nd semester, they could expect to receive the appropriate cord. If you are still in doubt, you may call the Counseling Office after June 2nd for an updated GPA. SENIOR EXIT PRESENTATIONS Who Am I? Where Am I Going? How Will I Get There? * SENIOR MAKE-UP CREDITS: Seniors are reminded that they must complete 23 credits to walk at graduation. Any make-up credits must be in by May 18th.
