4 GOLF, SWIMMING, TRACK AND WRESTLING During his time at Dowling Catholic, Dr. Bartels was a boys golf State Champion (1995) and two-time state runner up ( ). He was the Individual Conference Champion (1996) and a member of the golf team placing first at state in 1996 and third in 1995 and Dr. Bartels lettered in golf all four years, and also lettered in swimming, wrestling and track. He went on to play golf at Wichita State University and Drake University. Dr. Bartels lives in Coeur d Alene, Idaho, with his wife Krista and is working as a Medical Oncologist at Summit Cancer Center.

5 FOOTBALL, WRESTLING, TRACK AND BASEBALL Frank played on the first two undefeated DHS football teams in 1967 and 1968, beginning the longest undefeated streak in school history. He was chosen as a team football captain in 1968, and named First Team All-City Football and Fourth Team All-State Football ( ). Frank was proud to play under his father, George Cordaro, DHS Athletic Director and Athletic Hall of Famer. Frank was elected to class offices all four years, served on student council, and received the Aquinas Key. My Dowling years were the last and best years of my life with my dad, said Frank. His unconditional love for me and his life of service to God, family, church and country helped form me in the most profound ways. I am still a True Believer, and like my dad, I try to teach by example.

6 Mark Crouch has coached boys and girls swimming for 40 years and 28 years respectively. Crouch has coached 28 individual All-Americans, 22 relay All-Americans, 17 individual State Champions, and 14 relay State Champions. Crouch was privileged to coach National Swimmer of the Year Chris Eckerman; State Athlete of the Year Jonathan Fiepke; and 2016 Alumni Hall of Fame inductee Jimmy Sourbeer. Under Coach Crouch DCHS swimmers have broken five state records, two of which remain after 23 years. He is a three-time State Coach of the Year, and 18-time District Coach of the Year. The boys hold a record under Coach Crouch, and the girls He has coached 22 conference championship teams, 20 district championship teams, four state championship teams, and 16 top five finishes at state. He has been married to Jacque for 39 years, and is the proud father of three and grandfather to three.

7 FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL AND TRACK In 1955, Harold Faber received All-City honors for basketball and football. In 1956, he averaged 16.5 points per basketball game, and set the Des Moines Basketball All-City record for a single-game high of 37 points. Harold was named to the All-State Basketball team in 1956 and 1957, was a member of the 1957 Class-A State Championship basketball team, and played in 68 consecutive varsity basketball games. In football, Harold had the best punting average in the city. In track and field, he placed first at the Cardinal Relays during his first attempt at the football throw at Harold attended UNI and Drake, and in 1959 married his high school sweetheart Theresa Swift. They raised seven children, most of whom attended DHS. Harold had very strong faith in God, and his daughter Lisa wrote that, He was a hard working, amazing and compassionate individual with strong Catholic and family values.

8 SOFTBALL, VOLLEYBALL, TRACK AND CHEERLEADING As a senior, Kylie started in 61 softball games, recorded six home runs, 11 doubles and 28 RBI s. Kylie attended the University of Iowa, lettering in softball all four years. For the 2005 softball season, she was named to the NFCA Mideast All-Regional team, second team All Big 10 selection, and appeared in 63 games. She also hit the game winning RBI double against Nebraska in the NCAA Tournament. Some of Kylie s other honors in softball include two-time Elite All-State, third Team All-State, and 4-time All-Conference Selection. We worked hard, we played harder, remarked Kylie about her time at Dowling. I ve never been around a better group of women and staff EVER.

9 FOOTBALL, WRESTLING AND TRACK COACH Mike taught and coached at Dowling from He was the freshman football coach and varsity assistant from , varsity wrestling assistant and freshman coach from , and boys varsity assistant track coach from During the years Mike coached football, Dowling earned second place at State and numerous conference titles. He helped coach Dowling Catholic wrestling to 11 state championship team titles, five state runner up team titles, and coached numerous individual state champions and place winners. Mike lives in Urbandale with his wife Kristy and their children Andy and Sarah.

10 SWIMMING While at Dowling, Jimmy was a three-time team State Champion and runner up, and was an individual State Champion in the 100 and 200 freestyle. Jimmy was the state record holder in the 400 free relay from , a high school All-American Swimmer, first team Iowa Boys State Swim Team, State All-Academic Swim team, Dowling Catholic Team Captain, and was named the 2004 Dowling Student Athlete of the Year. Jimmy attended Northwestern University and was a member of the Varsity swim team from At Northwestern, Jimmy was a team captain along with two Olympians, and his team placed 4th at the NCAA Championship meet. Jimmy is currently living in Atlanta, Georgia, and is the Vice President of Corporate Development at PGI.
