6 Key Milestone Dates Now February 13 - Order test materials and submit pre-id student data via OEAA Secure Site (www. michigan.gov/oeaa-secure) Week of March 12 or March 19 Receive test materials March 20 ACT Question & Answer Webinar April 11 - Initial Test Day April Accommodations Test Window April 25 - Makeup Test Day April 25 May 1 - Accommodations Make up Window May 4 - Answer Document Receipt Date June Verification of Answer Documents review window August - Score Reporting The complete Schedule of Events is posted on the ACT state testing website ( in the Orientation stage. 6
7 Pre-test Activities Student Preparation ACT WorkKeys Preparation ( for more information on o The curriculum o Preparing for the tests (including FREE sample items) o The National Career Readiness Certificates (NCRCs) o Understanding their scores. There are also FREE Online Practice Tests (there is a charge for the 1.0 practice tests but the 2.0 practice tests are FREE). The sample items and the online practice test contain the same item types and stimuli as the paper tests the students will take in April. 7
8 Pre-test Activities Select Qualified Staff using the guidelines in the Administration Manual School Test Coordinator Substitute School Test Coordinator Room Supervisor Proctor(s) Mandatory training before test day
9 Verify Receipt of Test Materials Within 24 hours of delivery, the School Test Coordinator must open and verify the receipt of all test materials using the packing list After counting materials, reseal cartons with provided tape Sign your name across the seal Store in a secure location using the Two-Lock Rule: two locks separate the general public from the test materials Retain cartons for return shipment Order additional test materials if necessary Only the School Test Coordinator and Substitute Test Coordinator can access secure test materials before test day Call ACT immediately at , ext if there is a security breach at any time
10 Complete the Non-Test Portions of the Answer Documents Must be completed before test day School staff: Apply barcode labels to the back of the answer documents, upper right corner. All answer documents must have a barcode label, no exceptions! Complete Block 26 (Local Items) using State Use Questions in the Administration Supplement Students: Blocks 1, 2, and 4 through 15 Name, DOB, Demographic, and Address fields DO NOT complete Block 18!!!!! 10
11 Prepare Testing Rooms Average standard-time examinees in each room Arrange seating so there is a minimum of 3 ft. between examinees Plan appropriately for students with accommodations Cover test-related bulletin boards Use 2 reliable timepieces (not a cell phone!) Ensure Room Supervisor has access to a phone Must be kept on silent! Ensure proper lighting, temperature, and ventilation Prepare posters, cards, and admissions materials Schools may provide students with: No. 2 pencils with erasers Pencil sharpener Permitted calculators if you choose 11
12 Test Day Activities Sample Test Day Schedule (standard-time testing) 7:30 a.m. Arrival of testing staff 7:45 a.m. Briefing session with school staff 8:00 a.m. Arrival, identification, and seating of examinees 8:15 a.m. 1) Begin reading verbal instructions 2) Distribute test materials 3) Administer all 3 tests in order: Workplace Documents Applied Math Break Graphic Literacy 4) Collect/verify test materials 11:30 a.m. Dismiss examinees 55 minutes 55 minutes 15 minutes 55 minutes 12
13 Watch for and Document Irregularities Prohibited Behavior by Students Working or Looking Behind or Ahead in the test booklet Giving or Receiving Assistance Marking Ovals After Time is Called Copying or Removing Test Materials Using Notes or Aids (including prohibited calculators and cell phones) Using inappropriate behavior or causing distractions Individual Irregularities Examinees Who Leave Early Test Item Challenges Defective Test Materials Duplicating Test Materials Failure to Follow Directions in Marking Responses Examinees Who Become Ill Irrational Behavior Prohibited Behavior at the Test Site Dismissal for Prohibited Behavior Groups Irregularities Interrupting a Test Disturbances and Distractions Emergency Evacuation Rescheduled Examination Missing or Stolen Test Materials Mistiming of tests or breaks Power Failure 13
14 Misadministrations Can Cause Scores to be Cancelled Reasons for Scores to be Cancelled Rooms not set up correctly Conflict of Interest with staff Unauthorized transferred materials Advanced access to test content Pre-test info completed on test day Tests not given in correct order Tests timed incorrectly Test materials are duplicated/attempt Answers not transferred properly Additional information provided Misuse of Timing Codes Tests completed outside of testing window Different timing codes in same room Irrational or prohibited behavior Standard time use of accom. materials Accommodated use of standard time materials 14
15 Collect Test Room Documents before Dismissal of Examinees Document Test Booklets Answer Documents Administration Manual Action There are no answer documents inside and the test booklets are arranged in sequential serial number order Each answer document has the correct required identifying information on the front and back pages Keep for makeup testing or securely destroy Test Room Report Roster Seating Diagram Timing Report Irregularity Report Is completed and signed and initialed by the Test Coordinator and Room Supervisor and all test booklets are accounted for All examinees scheduled to test are listed and if they tested or not, with any ACT Student ID Letters attached All items are complete and test booklet serial numbers are recorded in the squares Each test has the start, 5 minutes remaining, and stop time recorded Is signed with explanation and voided/replaced materials are attached 15

If Applicable, also include: Student Identification Forms Large Type Worksheets Reader, Interpreter, and Transcriber Agreements Irregularity Report Voided or Replaced Answer Documents 16
