2 In order to graduate, students in Florida must earn a minimum of 24 credits: 4 credits in English 4 credits in mathematics (Algebra 1 & Geometry) 3 credits in science (Biology) 3 credits in social studies (World History, American History, Government & Economics) 1 credit in a fine art 1 credit in HOPE (Health Opportunities in Physical Education) 1 online class 8 Elective credits (Including academic electives) Earn a 2.0 GPA unweighted Pass the Appropriate Florida Standards Assessment in Reading & Writing. Pass the Algebra 1 End of Course exam. Must take Geometry, Biology, Algebra 2 and American History End of Course exams. Each EOC exams will count as 30% of the overall grade.

3 Reminder: Online Learning Credit One Course Students entering 9 th grade in the school year and after, must complete at least one course within the 24 credits required through online learning. Current 9 th graders who are enrolled in the HOPE class at Nease will be receiving this credit through their HOPE class.

4 Scholar Diploma Designation In addition to meeting the 24-credit standard high school diploma requirements, a student must Earn 1 credit in Algebra 2 Earn 1 credit in Statistics or an equally rigorous math course (PreCalc, Calculus A/B, Calculus B/C) Pass Biology 1 EOC Earn 1 credit in Chemistry or Physics Earn 1 credit in a course equally rigorous to Chemistry or Physics Pass U.S. History EOC 2 credits in the same foreign language Earn 1 credit in AP, IB, AICE, or Dual Enrollment course

5 Merit Diploma Designation A student must meet the requirements of the Standard Diploma plus Attain one or more industry certification from electives such as Drafting, TV Pro, Introduction to IT, etc. Students must complete at least 3 years of the Academy program and earn industry certification in order to qualify for the Merit Designation. Students can earn both a Scholar AND a Merit designation.

6 What is the End Of Course Assessment? EOC assessments are computer-based tests that will be taken at the end of Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2 Biology, and American History classes. These exams will count as 30% of the students overall final grade for the course. Students must pass the Algebra 1 EOC in order to graduate.

Every grade you earn counts toward your GPA! Colleges will look at all course selections and transcript grades you have earned in 9 th 10 th, 11 th, and 12 th grades.

The semester grades earned will count toward your high school GPA for classes that do not have an EOC. 1 st quarter and 3 rd quarter grades will not be on your college transcript. This year interims will not be printed. They will be available via HAC. Parents/students can ask the front office for a copy if needed.

8 SCHEDULE CHANGES Schedule changes may only be made within the first 5 days of school and only under the following conditions 1. You are in a class for which you have already received a passing grade. 2. You are missing a class and you do not have a complete 7 class schedule. Schedule changes will be considered at the end of first semester ONLY if the following conditions exist: 1. A student has a grade of D or F 2. Completion of a parent/teacher conference with the individual teacher during each grading period 3. Demonstration of the student seeking consistent academic assistance 4. Space available in a comparable course

After school tutoring is available on Tuesday and Thursday with the NHS students in the Media Center. An activity bus is available. HAC log in information can be requested from the front office or your school counselor.

12 COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS Community service hours are not required for graduation. They are required for Bright Futures. Community service hours should be documented by logging the hours on the SJCSD Community Service Verification Form and attaching verification letters that are on letterhead of the place where the hours were served. You can contact your School Counselor to get a copy of the SJCSD Community Service Verification Form. Students are encouraged to choose a variety of opportunities or services when selecting and completing their community service hours. If you are unsure if activities are considered viable, you should consult your School Counselor prior to the activity
