Kouts Athletic Department Athletes of the Week: Kasey Dulik Kasey has had an impressive start to the baseball season. He is leading the team in hits with 4, is tied for the team lead in RBIs at four, and he's also swiped three bases. Numbers aside, Kasey has proven that great things stem from hard work. He began playing baseball just over a year ago and his work ethic and determination have not only helped the team, but have proven to younger players on the team that hard work is the way to grow with the game of baseball. We're looking forward to a big year from our only senior! ~Coach Tucker Kennedi Sternberg Kennedi opened the season by winning the 100 and 200 meter dash against conference opponents Morgan and Washington. She tied the school record in the 100 with a time of 12.8 seconds. Kennedi put in a lot of training in the off season and it is paying off with early success on the track. ~Coach Duzan Mother s Day High Tea cancelled Unfortunately, the Mother s Day High Tea scheduled for Saturday, May 12 has been cancelled.

5 StuCo Year in Review C O N N E C T E D 1 This year's theme was Connected: connected to each other, the community, the world. Students participated in Table Talk on Oct. 18 where they were provided with conversation starters to spark meaningful conversation with each other. In February, students were treated to daily surprises during Random Acts of Kindness Week to show the power of being kind. N E W S P O O P E R S In its debut year at Kouts, the Newspooper was a hit. The monthly publication located in all the bathroom stalls included hotline information, health and environment tips, and cheesy jokes. 2 BIG PROJECT 3 Community members donated over 60 bikes in November to Working Bikes, an organization based out of Chicago that provides refurbished bikes to those in need of transportation in Chicago and internationally. S E R V I C E StuCo provided a safe, warm place for young trickor-treaters on Halloween. In January, we participated in the Pulsera Project by selling handcrafted bracelets made by Central American artists. All proceeds went to those artists. In April, we hosted a service project to a homeless shelter. 4 5 FUN & APPRECIATION We shook things up this year with a pirate-themed homecoming. Though some were skeptical, a great time was had by all. The basketball team even graced the court with a choreographed dance to High School Musical's "Getch'a Head in the Game". This year, each teacher received a thoughtful gift from a StuCo member in addition to Teacher Appreciation Week in May. T h a n k y o u f o r y o u r s u p p o r t!
