2 JAE Apply for admission to Junior Colleges (JC) Millennia Institute (MI) Polytechnics Institute of Technical Education (ITE)

3 Registration Process 12 Jan 2018 (Fri), 3pm 17 Jan 2018 (Wed), 4pm Online application through JAE Internet System (JAE-IS)

4 Registration Process All eligible applicants will receive Form A Form A will show: Your results The courses eligible for application JAE-PIN

5 Registration Process Students successfully admitted to a school through DSA (Direct School Admission) or EAE (Early Admission Exercise) will not be able to participate in JAE

6 Direct School Admission JC DSA applicants who do not meet the JC admission criteria may take part in JAE More details on and respective JC websites

7 Early Admission Exercise (EAE) Offers are confirmed if they meet these criteria: A net ELR2B2 score of 26 points or better Minimum Entry Requirements for the polytechnic course Those who do not meet the above may take part in JAE More details on and respective polytechnic websites

8 Registration Process Students should consider their course choices wisely In the JAE, applicants are posted to a course based on merit according to their net aggregate scores Consider courses that are comparable to your aggregate scores, for better fit and higher chances of being admitted

9 Registration Process Students should make full use of their 12 choices Unsuccessful in getting a place in any of his/her registered choices >>> posted to a course with remaining vacancies (after all other students are being posted according to their registered choices)

10 Registration Process To indicate at least 2-3 courses where their aggregate scores are much better than the previous year s course cut-off points (COP)

11 Registration Process Appeal for Transfer after JAE Posting Appeals are not likely to be successful unless they meet the COP of the JC course for that year s JAE OR have serious medical conditions

12 Form J Only qualify for NITEC courses Joint Intake Exercise (JIE) for ITE JIE Booklet

13 Retention Criteria Sec 4E and Sec 5N students are allowed to repeat the GCE O Level Examination only if they satisfy all the criteria below: a) i) Obtained no more than 2 GCE O-Level passes (excluding CCA) and an aggregate of 44 points or less in 5 subjects (excluding CCA), or ii) Obtained 3 or more GCE O-Level passes (excluding CCA) but do not qualify for admission to Junior Colleges, Millennia Institute or Polytechnics;

14 Retention Criteria b) i) Will not be more than 4 years overage, for Singapore Citizens/ Permanent Residents (i.e. born on or after 2 Jan 1997 for Sec 5N students, and born on or after 2 Jan 1998 for Sec 4E students), or ii) Will not be more than 2 years overage, for International Students (i.e. born on or after 2 Jan 1999 for Sec 5N students, and born on or after 2 Jan 2000 for Sec 4E students); c) Had been enrolled in a Government or Government-aided school in 2017; and d) Had attempted the GCE O-Level Examination for the first time in 2017.

15 Application Procedures to Repeat O Levels Eligible students who wish to repeat Sec 4E or Sec 5N should obtain the application form from the General Office and submit the completed form to the school in either of the time periods shown below: a) First period Between the 1st to 5th working day from the date of release of the GCE O-Level Examination results. b) Second period Between the 1st to 5th working day from the date of release of the JAE posting results.

17 Appeal for Review of Results Review of marking and full clerical re-check Closing Date: 18 Jan 2018 All appeals will be made through the school Fees per subject: Individual Appeal - $ Group Appeal - $ (5 students) ($ for each additional candidate)

21 Direct-Entry-Scheme to Polytechnic Programme (DPP) 5N students who are newly eligible for DPP after taking into account their O level results should apply online at:

23 Other Matters Students who have been offered a place in the DPP should report to ITE on 22 Jan 2018 (Mon), upon acceptance of their DPP course offer The last day of school for Secondary 5 students who have accepted a place in the PFP will be on 26 Jan 2018 (Fri)

24 Other Matters Students who accepted a place in the earlier December application phase of the DPP but have now decided to take up a PFP offer, will need to apply to ITE to withdraw from the DPP course in order to take up the PFP offer
