13 Pre-AP vs. Advanced Pre AP Pre AP courses are designed to prepare students for success in AP courses that are taught on a college level, and for which college credit can be earned. The course is also designed for success in scoring in the Advanced category of the state mandated STAAR test for graduation. Average homework nightly: 45 minutes- 1 hour minimum Required reading of book outside of class Much of the course is teacher initiated, student directed Out-of-class projects Minimum to slightly more than the minimum required daily grades according to FBISD policy 1st Semester: Study skills, learning exercises, and various note-taking strategies are taught and practiced with teacher guidance. 2nd Semester: Students are expected to choose appropriate styles and apply them to assigned activities. Advanced The Advanced course is designed to prepare students for success in future high school Social Studies courses and success on passing the state mandated STAAR test for graduation. AP courses reflect what is taught in top introductory college courses At the end of course, students take AP Exams standardized exams that measure how well students have mastered college-level course work.
