1 No.32-20/2012-NDM-I Ministry of Home Affairs (Disaster Management Division) SITREP NO-01/ hours Dated, 1 ST July, 2012 Subject: SOUTHWEST MONSOON-2012: DAILY FLOOD SITUATION REPORT SUMMARY OF IMPORTANT EVENTS AS ON RAINFALL/FLOOD SITUATION IN THE COUNTRY Rainfall occurred at many places over Konkan & Goa, coastal Karnataka, Lakshadweep and coastal Orissa; at a few places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands and at one or two places over Gujarat, west Madhya Pradesh, Interior Maharashtra, Interior Karnataka, north Tamilnadu, north Kerala, Jharkhand, sub-himalayan, West Bengal & Sikkim and north eastern states. Weather remained mainly dry over rest parts of the country. The chief amounts of rainfall (1cm or more) recorded at 1730 hours IST of yesterday were: Ratnagiri-9, Puri-5, Ujjain and Bhubaneshwar-3 each and Keonjhagarh, Balasore, Panjim, Augumbe, Shirali, Mangalore and Minicoy-1 each. Indian Meteorological Department (Major features of weather forecast) Rain/thundershowers would occur at many places over west coast, interior Maharashtra, north interior Karnataka, Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Rain/thundershowers would also occur at many places over Orissa, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh. Rain/thundershowers would occur at a few places over Gujarat region, Madhya Pradesh, east Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan, West Bengal & Sikkim and northeastern states. Rain/thundershowers would occur at one or two places over rest parts of the country. Maximum temperature would fall by 24 0C over Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan, east and central India during next 2-3 days. CENTRAL WATER COMMISSION (daily water levels and forecasts for level forecast sites) There is 01 High Flood situations and 4 Moderate flood situation sites in the country as on DEPLOYMENT OF NATIONAL DISASTER RESPONSE FORCE (NDRF) 19 Teams consisting of 658 personnel of NDRF have been deployed in Assam 16, Andhra Pradesh 01 and J&K-02. INDIAN METEOROLOGICAL DEPARTMENT (daily weather report) Rain/thundershowers would occur at many places over west coast, interior Maharashtra, north interior Karnataka, Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Rain/thundershowers would also occur at many places over Orissa, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh. 1

2 Rain/thundershowers would occur at a few places over Gujarat region, Madhya Pradesh, east Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan, West Bengal & Sikkim and northeastern states. Rain/thundershowers would occur at one or two places over rest parts of the country. Maximum temperature would fall by 24 0C over Uttar Pradesh, east Rajastha, east and central India during next 2-3 days. Weather Warning Heavy rainfall would occur at one or two places over Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal & north interior Karnataka, Telangana, costal Andhra Pradesh and Orissa during next 48 hours. Weather outlook for next two days Rain/thundershowers would occur at many places along west coast and over east and adjoining central India and northeastern states. Increase in rainfall activity over northwest India. CENTRAL WATER COMMISSION (daily water levels and forecasts for level at forecast sites) According to the Central Water Commission (CWC) report dated 1 st July, 2012, there are 02 high flood & 05 Moderate flood situation sites in the country, as per details given below:- High Flood Situations: River Brahmaputra at Dhubri in Assam is flowing at a level of m with falling trend against the danger level of m. Moderate Flood Site Assam River Brahmaputra at Neamatighat in district Jorhat, Assam is flowing at m against the danger level of m with falling trend. River Brahmaputra at Guwahati in district Kamrup, Assam is flowing at m against the danger level of m with falling trend. River Brahmaputra at Goalpara in district Goalpara, Assam is flowing at m against the danger level of m with falling trend. River Kopili at Dharmatul in Morigaon/Dharamtul district in Assam is flowing at a level of m with falling trend against the danger level of m. DEPLOYMENT OF NATIONAL DISASTER RESPONSE FORCE (NDRF) ON 1 st July, In Assam, 12 teams of 1 st Bn, NDRF consisting of 424 personnel (Kamrup-18, Tinsukia-145, Sonitpur -146, Dhemaji-43, and Rangia-72) and 04 teams of 2 nd Bn NDRF consisting of 140 2

3 personnel (Majuli Island, Jorhat-70, Nagaon/Kamrup -70) deployed in connection with flood relief and rescue. In Andhra Pradesh, 01 team of 5 th Bn NDRF consisting of 15 personnel in Guntur along with necessary equipments for emergency and also imparting DM training to personnel of 10 Bn, NDRF. In J&K, 02 teams of 7 BN CRPF consisting of 79 personnel deployed for FAMEX & Amarnath Yatra duty.
