3 SAN DIEGUITO ALLIANCE FOR DRUG FREE YOUTH asks you to take the Parent Pledge The Parent Pledge is... Sponsored by San Dieguito Alliance, a nonprofit coalition committed to the prevention of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and other drug use by young people and to the drug abuse education of parents and community members. Do you know? 50% of adolescent death is alcohol related and 75% of all preventable death is caused by alcohol and tobacco use. Average age for the inception of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana and other drug use is 12. Communicating a clear and consistent family policy about alcohol, tobacco, marijuana and other drug use delays or prevents drug use. Notifying parents of suspected teen alcohol, tobacco, marijuana and other drug use is essential for immediate intervention. Teenage parties in our communities are being held without supervision, and alcohol, tobacco, marijuana and other drugs are readily available, sometimes provided by a parent or sibling. It is illegal to allow minors to drink at parties or other gatherings. Penalties may include a $1,000 fine, six months in prison and/or the cost of police services. Parent Pledges are compiled in late Fall into a directory by zip code with PARENTS names and phone numbers (NO ADDRESSES). The Parent Pledge Directory will be found on the San Dieguito Alliance website and is available only by a code that will be mailed to you so parents may network. SAN DIEGUITO ALLIANCE FOR DRUG FREE YOUTH serves the communities of Cardiff, Carmel Valley, Del Mar, Elfin Forest, Encinitas, Fairbanks Ranch, La Costa, Rancho Santa Fe, Solana Beach Phone/Fax (858) SDAlliance4@aol.com I believe parents today are: less likely just as likely more likely to allow teen drinking in their homes than three to four years ago. Please include only my/our name(s) and phone number (no addresses) in the Parent Pledge Directory that is compiled by zip codes. I would like to be notified about alcohol, tobacco, marijuana or other drug issues in my community. My address is (print). Enclosed is a tax deductible donation to SAN DIEGUITO ALLIANCE FOR DRUG FREE YOUTH (Federal Tax ID # ) to assist with its alcohol, tobacco, marijuana and drug prevention education, activities and policies. $25 (Family) $100 (Patron) Any amount is welcome though not necessary Please charge my credit card for my donation of $. 5 Dear LCC Family, La Costa Canyon High School Foundation One Maverick Way Carlsbad, CA x6021 Tax ID # La Costa Canyon Foundation is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization. Your gift is tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law. Mavericks The LCC Foundation proudly welcomes you to our school year. We are excited to partner with you in providing your students the best educational experience possible. The LCC Foundation exists solely to support and enhance our school s Academics, Arts, and Athletics. The San Dieguito Unified High School District covers our basic educational needs, and the Foundation funds supplemental courses, equipment, coaches, and technology that enrich the LCC experience. We are coming off a banner year in which we raised over $100,000 during our annual parent campaign! These funds went to support crucial classroom areas. For instance, we were able to give $35,000 to our STEM classes alone. We were also able to fund the Every Fifteen Minutes program that impacted our entire student body. This is on top of the tens of thousands that we granted to our teachers and their classrooms. This year, we have our eyes set on even bigger and better things for our students. As always, we are partnering with Principal Marcus to fund key initiatives and areas of need. We are focused on improving key course offerings and expanding after school opportunities. We are planning to once again expand our Foundation Speaker Series for all school assemblies. We will be funding our after school enrichment program. And as always, we will be granting money to our teachers to fund important projects and supplies in our classrooms. La Costa Canyon has an incredibly talented student body who achieve great things in Academics, Athletics, and Arts. The Foundation relies on your donations to provide funding for a deeper, enriched educational experience. Even though we increased the amount of families who supported the Foundation last year, we still are under 25% of total families who give. Our goal, as always, is for 100% participation no matter how much a family gives. On the back of this form, you can read about different giving levels. If you have never supported us before, a simple way to begin is by giving a dollar a day for every school day of the year. That would be the $180 option you see below. Please join us as we raise money to help make LCC the school we are all proud of. Thank you for your generous support! Counseling, College and Career: College and Career readiness is something on the mind of every LCC parent. The Foundation organizes crucial SAT/ACT prep courses and provides funding for after-school enrichment and college and career readiness guest speakers. Technology: Every year, new opportunities arise for the LCC Foundation to fund vital technology upgrades in the classrooms and around campus. This includes computer equipment, software upgrades, and web development that are not covered by Prop or District funds. STEM: LCC continues to increase its elective offerings and extracurricular activities in research and practical application of science, technology, engineering and math. Robotics, computer science and engineering opportunities would not be possible without LCC Foundation support. Arts: Your donation supports all courses and programs offered in Video and Film, Dance, Band, Fine Arts, and Theater.
