Please follow these newly established due dates. The All-Academic nomination forms will be due June 15th. The All-Star Series player nomination forms are due July 1st. Again, please make a note of these changes and make sure you get your information in on time. Both areas have been a topic of discussion the past few years. We hope these date changes will allow a more relaxing evaluation process, without a "time crunch" pressuring any decision making and team selections. 1) You will find the new Board of Directors and Officers, serving the next term, listed in this newsletter. 2) Our Rating Poll chairman Mark Hey (Ankeny), and rating poll contributor Todd Kimm (Radio Iowa), will be your contacts for this summers rating polls. Reminder, one and two year district members are expected to help gather records from teams in their districts and send to Mark and Todd on a weekly basis. Class 1A / 2A meetings are on July 12th 1 pm. Class A / ee in are on 19th 1:00pm. 6) The 39th annual IHSBCA All-Star Series will be held in Clinton this coming August. The series datesare August 6-9. Please have r r r d ne 15th, if not earlier please!! 6th annual Junior Showcase will be held on Sunday, August 2nd, at the Southeast Polk High School baseball field in Pleasant Hills. The showcase will begin at 9:00am and end around 3:00pm. Registration information will be o ed on e eb i e in May. You may contact Dave Rock with questions. 10) If you are interested in helping select the 2015 All-State teams, please fill out the coaches information form at your All-District meeting in July. We need two coaches from each district, in each class, to attend and help select these All-State teams. The selection meetings will be held at Clinton HS, 11:00 am, on Friday 8/7. 11) Congratulations to our newly elected officer, Rick Admire (Sgt. Bluff-Luton). He will replace Don Lyons and work his way through the officer chairs. Our officers for the year are: President - Steve Hanson,(Marshalltown); President Elect - Jake Souhrada (Wilton); 2nd Vice President - Tony Adams (Newman); and our newly elected 3rd Vice President - Rick Admire (Sgt. Bluff-Luton). 12) A summary of the 2015 Clinic evaluation results will be posted on the website later this spring. Thank you to Ethan Miller and his committee for the time and commitment they put into this project. 13) Quick Reminder - Please let Tom Souhrada know when you hear of a coach, umpire, HOF member, or others who have been associated with our association that have passed away. Nomination forms for future All-Star Series are on the website. All-Star Series returns to Clinton: The 39th Annual All-Star Series will be held in Clinton this summer. All gameswill be played at Ashford University Field, home of the Class A Clinton LumberKings. Coaches need to nominate their deserving senior players by lling out the All-Star Series player recommendation form found in this issue or go to the website. Include a photo of your player, along with as much information as possible. This will give our coaches the best opportunity to select the best high school players. The Board of Directors passed a policy in 2005 that any player/coach selected to participate in the All-Star Series must have a minimum sponsorship fee of $ More always helps defray the cost of the series. It will be the high school coach s responsibility to help their players get sponsorships for the All-Star Series. This policy is necessary in order to off set the cost of putting on the All-Star Series. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your district representative or an of cer for further explanation. Please have sponsorship fees paid and sponsorship names turned into the Executive Director no later than August 2nd if your player is selected. Remember, nomination forms are due by July 1. 15 Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association Presents the 2015 IHSBCA Junior Showcase The Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association will be holding the 5th Annual Junior Showcase for baseball players completing their junior baseball season. We will also be accepting 30 sophomores for the first time. The showcase cap will remain at 150 players. The date will be Sunday, August 2, 2015, hosted by Southeast Polk High School in Pleasant Hill, Iowa. The showcase will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude by 3:00 p.m. No games will be played. All players will be timed in the 60 yard dash. Catchers will be timed on their throws to second. Outfielders will show their arm strength with throws from right field to third base and home plate. First basemen will field ground balls and display their arm strength to third base. Shortstops, second basemen, and third basemen will field ground balls at their respective positions and show their fielding ability and arm strength with a variety of throws to first base. They will also turn a couple of double plays. Pitchers will throw 15 pitches off the mound, showing their fastball, curve-ball, change up, and any other pitches. All position players will be given an opportunity to take 10 swings in the cage. Players may only work out at one position. Coaches are asked to nominate their 2016 graduates who may play college baseball. IF YOU ARE NOMINATING, PLEASE INFORM PLAYERS THAT THEY MAY BE SELECTED. The online nomination form is available at the link under Junior Showcase at Coaches are asked to have their nominations submitted by June 30, Coaches are asked to please nominate ONLY those players they feel have the ability to play college baseball at some level. Only 150 players will be selected, so not all players will be invited to attend. If you have questions about the nomination process, please Dave at: iowajuniorshowcase@gmail.com. Once a player is selected, he will be sent an acceptance form and a player information form to be signed and returned to Dave Rock, along with a check for a position player of $50 and $75 if also pitching, made out to the IHSBCA. These forms will not go out until after July 7, If the forms and check arenot returned by July 26, 2015, the player may not be included in the showcase and anotherplayer may be invited. All proceeds from this event will go directly to the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. The IHSBCA appreciates your efforts in supporting both the association and providing a positive experience for Iowa s high school baseball players.
