3 Message from the Principal Welcome to the school year at École Camrose Composite High School and Battle River Online. We are located on the west end of Camrose and adjacent to the Highway at Avenue. ECCHS is a public, co-ed and dual track school from Grades 9 to 12. BROL is a public online school from Grades 1 to 12. There are 762 students at École Camrose Composite High School (702 students) and Battle River Online (66 students). We have approximately 40 international students each year from many different countries around the world. ECCHS also offers an extensive CTF program to about 500 junior high school students from Hay Lakes, Round Hill, Bawlf, Cornerstone, and Charlie Killam schools. Here at École Camrose Composite High School and Battle River Online, we offer a broad program of academic core and complimentary courses. These include physical education, fine arts, and an extensive selection of career and technology studies courses. The students benefit from a broad counseling program, an English as a second language program, a modern media centre, off-campus programs, extra-curricular programs (i.e. badminton, basketball, volleyball, curling, cross country running, football, golf, soccer, tennis, track & field, and a specialized hockey academy class, various school clubs and students union), and a cafeteria service. We believe that all students can be successful learners, and that every student has the right to an enjoyable and engaging education. Our learning environment is positive and caring which supports individual differences, allowing all students to take risks in their pursuit of excellence. We strive to build strong relationships between staff, students, families, and the school community. We continue to challenge students and assist them in becoming responsible learners. The relationship between home and school is essential to the success of the student. We look forward to working in partnership with parents to ensure the success of their children and our students as we embark on this new school year. Our mission is to provide the best possible educational opportunities for all of our students. We believe in promoting inclusiveness and acceptance. As a result, we are a "Challenge Day" school and have an active "Be the Change" team. Battle River Online BROL opened its first web site in September of Initially, the school was called CMOS Centre and ran programs for Grades 3-9 with the plan to expand into High School in following years. The CMOS Centre was first run out of Edberg School and enrolled 22 students in its first year. In 1998 the CMOS Centre was moved to Camrose to the Instructional Services Centre as a response to the growing interest in the school and to better access many of the resources available through Central Office. Grade 1, 2, 10 and 11 were added that year as well , the school was renamed Battle River Online (BROL). The school had seen its first high school graduate students and was continuing to expand programs and course selections. Battle River Online also began working with traditional Battle River Schools to offer blended programs to students and access to courses that would not normally be available. The student population of BROL has shown steady growth since Following a policy of conservative growth and a program before profit attitude has enabled BROL to develop a school program that is second to none in the province.
