Beginning with the advent of the Cold War, we will explore the political, economic, social and cultural developments that marked the past sixty years, paying particular attention to connections between developments across time and space. Though it would be impossible to cover everything that happened in the world since 1945 in one semester, the materials we examine will give us insight into contemporary events and help us to better understand how the world got to be the way it is today. From war in Afghanistan to a global environmental movement to controversy about immigrant populations, this course will challenge us to look into the past for connections between that world and the one we live in today. KI 1990 History of Basketball The course will focus on the invention of basketball. We will explore the history of this game from its creation to present day. Several topics will be explored, including the game, recreational settings, high school settings, collegiate basketball, the NBA and WNBA, as well as previous professional leagues, and the game outside of the United States. In addition, we will discuss the evolution of basketball and what factors have influenced changes to the sport. We will also look to the future of basketball Course Prerequisites Numb Title Prerequisite AC 3290 Federal Taxation AC/BU 2210 or permission of instructor BU 3310 Business Finance BU/AC 2110 & 2210 BU 3420 Human Resource Management BU 2420 BU 3880 Legal/Ethical Env.
