6 What is MOWR? Old Program Names Dual Enrollment Joint Enrollment Accel College Credit Now Move On When Ready Move on When Ready (MOWR) One name eliminates confusion for counselors, parents, students and administrators. Effective July 1, 2015 (FY 2016)

7 What is MOWR? Move On When Ready (MOWR) is a program in which high school students may earn high school credits while taking college courses. Students pursue a high school diploma Students pursue postsecondary (college) credit Earned credit listed on high school transcript and college transcript Core courses help students meet HOPE Scholarship rigor requirements

8 2015 Legislation SB 132 Move On When Ready Program High school student may enroll while in 9 th 12 th grades Earn high school and college credit Can take a range of core, CTAE and elective courses SB 2 New High School Graduation Option Students complete minimum state high school requirements (1 Heath/PE course, 2 English, 2 math, 2 science, 2 social studies, EOCs) Option to attend postsecondary institution as a full-time student Simultaneously awarded a high school diploma AND an associate degree, technical diploma, or 2 technical certificates

9 Who is eligible? Move on When Ready is available to any Georgia student in grades 9-12 enrolled in a public school, private school, or homestudy program. Step 1: Parent, student and counselor sign advisement form Step 2: Meet admission requirements and deadlines at postsecondary intuition (SAT, ACT or Accuplacer test) Step 3: Maintain satisfactory progress

10 MOWR Admission Requirements Is your student eligible for MOWR? Counselor and Parents must agree that MOWR is the best fit for the student Student must meet admission requirement of the postsecondary institution or his or her choice Demonstrate that he or she is Program Ready Meet minimum test score (SAT/ACT/Accuplacer) Complete institution s admission application Sign participation agreement

13 HOPE SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS To receive HOPE Scholarship funding, students must: Graduate with a minimum 3.0 grade point average (as calculated by GSFC). Meet academic rigor requirements. Be enrolled as a degree-seeking student at a public or private HOPE eligible college or university in Georgia.

14 HOPE RIGOR REQUIREMENTS Seniors must meet 4 of the 6 requirements Advanced math, such as advanced algebra and trigonometry, math III Advanced science, such as chemistry, physics, biology II, anatomy Foreign language courses taken at the high school Advanced Placement MOWR/College-level courses in Core subjects International Baccalaureate HOPE GPA of 3.0+
