1 AUBURN UNIVERSITY INTERNAL MEMORANDUM TO: Joe Morgan, Associate Dean for Academics DATE: 12/4/2009 FROM: Victor P. Nelson, Professor PHONE: Chair, ECE Curriculum Committee SUBJECT: ECE curriculum and course changes The attached documents are proposed changes to the following ECE courses, and the associated curriculum models. Most of these changes are relatively minor, and are the result of the last ECE curriculum revision, which deleted ELEC 2010 (EE Lab I) and ELEC 2020 (ELEC Lab II) courses, merging them into ELEC 2110 and ELEC 2210, respectively. Laboratory courses ELEC 3030, ELEC 3040 and ELEC 3050 are being renamed (since Lab I and Lab II were eliminated), and prerequisites adjusted due to the elimination of ELEC ELEC 3030 Change title from EE Lab III to RF Systems Lab, and drop prerequisite ELEC The remaining prerequisite, ELEC 2210, now includes the content of the eliminated ELEC 2020 course. ELEC 3040 Change title from EE Lab IV to Electrical System Design Lab. ELEC 3050 Change title from Computer System Design Lab to Embedded System Design Lab, and change prerequisite ELEC 2020 to ELEC 2210, which now includes the content of the eliminated ELEC 2020 course. Change the ELEC, ECPE, and WIRE curriculum models to reflect the new laboratory course names. ELEC 3310 and ELEC 3320 Change bulletin descriptions, reflecting a redistribution of topics between courses of this two-course sequence. Add new course ELEC 7440/7446 Delete three courses: ELEC 5210/6210/6216, ELEC 5510/6510/6516, ELEC 5520/6520/6526
