2 Indian Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (Year-10) 1. CALENDAR FOR ICSE EXAMINATION OF MARCH th February 2015: Last date for withdrawals. 26 February to : Written Examinations. 30 th March WITHDRAWAL FROM THE ICSE MARCH 2015 EXAMINATION Heads of Schools presenting candidates for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education Examination March 2015 are requested to note that the last date for withdrawals is 15 th February, Heads of Schools are reminded that the regulation regarding withdrawals reads as follows: Withdrawal of Candidates Candidates may be withdrawn at any time previous to the commencement of the examination, provided that due notice is given to the Council. In the case of candidates whose names are submitted in the registration form of the School, the notice of withdrawal must be sent to the Council by the Head of the School, provided that, once the entries have been accepted by the Council, Heads of Schools may only withdraw a candidate: (a) on account of illness of the candidate certified by a registered medical practitioner; OR (b) at the express written request of the parent/legal guardian of the candidate. 3. UNDER PROTEST ENTRIES: ICSE 2015 Bonafide cases arising from an error by a School (but not from a change of mind by a School or candidate) may be accepted at the discretion of the Council as corrections UNDER PROTEST. The cases will be dealt with under an entirely separate system. A fee of Rs.1000/- per subject per candidate will be payable and the result may be delayed. At the ICSE examination there should normally be no entries Under Protest. 4. ICSE MARCH 2015: ATTENDANCE LISTS The Attendance Lists for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education Examination, March 2015 has been sent by Registered Post/Courier to all Conveners of Local Committees. 5. ADMIT CARDS AND TIMETABLE The Admit Cards and copies of the timetable for the March 2015 ICSE Examination have been sent to the Heads of Schools. 6. DESPATCH OF QUESTION PAPERS:- MARCH 2015 ICSE EXAMINATION The Question Papers for the ICSE Examination of March 2015 will be sent to the Conveners of Local Committees. The consignment of question papers is expected to reach the Conveners of various centres by 23th /24 th February, ICSE MARCH 2015: INTERNAL ASSESSMENT ONLINE Heads of Schools concerned are hereby informed that the internal assessment will be filled online by the school. (a) SUPW In the result of each candidate in SUPW should be given in terms of a grade, namely, A, B, C, D or E based on the five point scale as given: Grade A B C D E Standard Very Good Good Fair Satisfactory Unsatisfactory (ii) Grade E is the fail grade and candidates awarded this grade will not be eligible for the award of a Pass Certificate. 2

3 NOMINATION OF SUPERVISING EXAMINERS AND INVIGILATORS The Committee appointed by the Council to make rules for the conduct of the ICSE/ISC Examination has decided that:- (i) The Supervising Examiner should be a responsible, competent and impartial person and not a member of the staff of the School at which the Centre is located. (ii) The appointment of Conveners, Supervising Examiners, Invigilators and Inspector shall be subject to the approval of the Chief Executive and Secretary of the Council. The approval may be assumed unless there is any communication to the contrary. (iii) The Invigilators should be School Teachers, but will not invigilate over candidates of their own Schools. Against this background the Conveners are requested to nominate Supervising Examiners and Invigilators as per guidelines given below:- 1. Where there are many schools affiliated to the Council in one city, teachers from affiliated schools are to be selected in such a way that they do not Supervise/Invigilate over their own school candidates. 2. The Supervising Examiners and Heads of Schools are asked to make certain that the Invigilators appointed are not teachers of the subject(s) under examination. 3. Where there is only one School in a locality, the Convener is requested to nominate reliable persons known for their integrity and educational standing as Supervising Examiners and Invigilators. IMPORTANT Kindly note the beginning of the academic year in Schools affiliated to the Council is between the middle of March and the first week of June each year. IMPORTANT At the 69 th meeting of the Council it was discussed and decided that Heads of Schools may not hold back candidates from the ICSE(10)/ISC(12) Examinations except under the regulations provided in the Syllabuses and Regulations booklet of the Examinations. 3

4 Indian School Certificate Examination (Year 12) 1. CALENDAR FOR ISC EXAMINATION OF YEAR th February 2015 : Last date for withdrawals. 9 th February to : Written and Practical 1 st April 2015 Examinations. 2. WITHDRAWAL FROM THE ISC YEAR 2015 EXAMINATION Heads of Schools presenting candidates for the Indian School Certificate Examination Year 2015 are requested to note that the last date for withdrawals is 6 th February, Heads of Schools are reminded that the regulation regarding withdrawals reads as follows: Withdrawal of Candidates Candidates may be withdrawn at any time previous to the commencement of the examination, provided that due notice is given to the Council. UNDER PROTEST ENTRIES Heads of Schools of Examination Centres are reminded that Subjects may be taken Under Protest only by school candidates entered for the examination. The following details are given for the attention of Heads of Schools sending candidates for the Indian School Certificate Examination. Entries Under Protest can only be accepted where the Head of the School has made an error in the entry of a School candidate. The procedure given below must be followed if the candidate is allowed to sit for an additional subject for which he/she is not shown as entered on the Attendance List. The procedure applies only to regular school candidates. (a) Answer scripts written by a candidate who is not entered for the subject must be sent to the Chief Executive and Secretary, Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, immediately after the paper has been taken. A script envelope must be used and the words UNDER PROTEST must be written. The scripts must be sent with a note explaining the error and a statement showing which alternative papers, if any, within the subject the candidate is taking. Full details of Under Protest entries giving the reason for such entries and the action taken on them must be sent with the necessary fee to the Chief Executive and Secretary, Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi. (b) The scripts Under Protest, provided the appropriate fee has been paid and are approved, as bonafide corrections will be marked separately. The results will not necessarily be issued at the same time as the main batch of students. (c) The Chief Executive and Secretary reserves the right to refuse to issue results to candidates in cases which he does not consider to be bonafide corrections of errors outside the control of the candidates. (d) The special fee to be paid for an UNDER PROTEST entry is Rs. 1000/- per subject. This fee must be sent to the Chief Executive and Secretary, Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi, together with the answer script of the subject taken under protest. 4

ADMIT CARDS AND TIMETABLE AND OTHER EXAMINATION MATERIAL The Admit Cards and copies of the timetable and other examination related material for the ISC Year 2015 Examination have been sent to the Heads of Schools. 6. DESPATCH OF QUESTION PAPERS YEAR 2015 ISC EXAMINATION The Question Papers for the ISC Examination of Year 2015 have been sent to the Conveners of Local Committees. The consignment of question papers have reached the Conveners of various centres by 30 th /31 th January, ISC YEAR 2015 : INTERNAL ASSESSMENT SUPW In the SUPW result should be given in terms of a grade, namely, A, B, C, D or E based on the five point scale as follows: Grade A B C D E Standard Very Good Good Fair Satisfactory Unsatisfactory (i) Grade E is the fail grade and candidates awarded this grade will not be eligible for the award of a Pass Certificate. OTHER SUBJECTS (i) The Council has provided online portal to the schools to submit marks of their candidates in Craftwork (Art Paper 6), Geography Paper 2, Home Science Paper-2, Physical Education Paper-2, Fashion Designing Paper 2, Indian Music (Hindustani) Paper 2, Indian Music (Carnatic) Paper 2, Western Music Paper 2, Environmental Science Paper-2, Psychology Paper-2, Physics Paper- 3, Chemistry Paper-3, Biology-3, Computer Science Paper-2, Biotechnology Paper-2, Sociology Paper-2 etc. Kindly do not send the candidates work in these subjects to be assessed by the Council. This will be assessed by the visiting examiner to be appointed locally and approved by the Council, who will be required to fill the marks online. As per the ISC Time Table, Computer Science 2 is to be held on 16 th February, Kindly ensure that the answer scripts of this paper are assessed by the Visiting Examiner appointed locally and approved by the Council. The completed computerized mark sheets (downloaded from the portal) and answer scripts in this subject are to be despatched to the Council as per the stipulated dates. IMPORTANT Heads of Schools are requested to use the School Code in all their correspondence with the office of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations. The School Codes are given in the List of Affiliated Schools booklet. 5

6 COUNTERSIGNING OF DOCUMENTS Heads of schools who send Transfer Certificates to the Council for countersignature are requested to send a Forwarding Letter and a self-addressed stamped envelope for the return despatch of these documents from the Council. All such documents must be signed only by the Head of the School whose specimen signature has been recorded and maintained in the office of the Council. MINIMUM ATTENDANCE REQUIRED OF CANDIDATES ENTERED FOR THE ICSE AND ISC EXAMINATIONS Heads of Schools are reminded of the minimum attendance requirement for the ICSE(10) and ISC (12) Examinations, which is given in the respective Regulations. Entry to the ICSE(10) and ISC (12) Examinations in the case of eligible candidates who are being entered for the first time is restricted to candidates with a minimum of 75% attendance of the working days during each year of the two-year course at schools affiliated to the Council and registered for the ICSE(10)/ISC(12) Examinations. Heads of Schools are required to inform the Council not later than 15 th February, 2015 of candidates entered for the ICSE(10) and not later than 31 st January 2015 for the ISC(12) Examinations who are short of the 75% attendance requirement. Representations on behalf of such candidates with full details may be made by the Heads of Schools so as to reach the Council not later than the stipulated dates and these will be considered, provided the attendance is not short of 60% of the working days. 6
